Comments about Ikan PT3000 Teleprompter:
This is a well-built device, with metal parts that feel quite sturdy, although there is a fair amount of construction needed to use it. The instructions for putting it together were pretty good, but there is essentially no documentation of either the controls on the monitor nor the software. The software does, however, include a file that lists some of the key shortcuts, along with some sample text that was obviously written by someone for whom English is not a first language.
The software is a little simplistic, but works fairly well, once you figure it out, but there is no way to configure the shortcut keys or the effect of mouse click, which were not very well thought out. For example, starting and stopping scrolling is F6 (or Command-Left Click on a Mac), so you are going to have to look at the keyboard to start and stop scrolling. If a simple mouse click could start and stop scrolling, then you could use the teleprompter yourself without looking away from the camera.
When put together, it is quite large, and the FAQ;s point out that any dust on the reflector will be visible on your videos, so storing and transporting are likely to be a challenge.
When I received this, the flatscreen assembly had a rattle. I had to open the monitor case, and found a small, silver screw unlike any of the parts that came with the teleprompter, so that was obviously a manufacturing defect. However, the monitor appears to function properly.
Also, there was supposed to be a roll of velcro (hook) tape to attach the hood to the side of the monitor assembly, but that was not in the box.
