The JVC CTC-HM100BKJ Backpack Journalism Case (Black) is designed and manufactured by Kata to fit a JVC GY-HM100U Pro HD camcorder. The backpack has both Kata and JVC logos on the front. The bag is made of 1000 denier Cordura nylon with a contoured, thickly padded interior. The pack uses the TST (Thermo-Shield-Technology) that protects the camera equipment while creating an extremely light bag. The outer surface of the TST is thermo-formed in a protective ribshape construction. It has a Modi-Vers System that uses customizable dividers to create compartments. The bag uses an EPH Ergonomic Photo System, which is a modular and versatile system for accessories and has a TST Tripod Holder that is a modular and versatile sling pouch designed to connect the tripod on the outside.
The CTC-HM100BKJ backpack has 2 removable exterior side pockets and 2 mesh pockets on the inside of the backpack. A rear laptop compartment has a removable Elasto-guard sleeve that can hold a computer with a screen up to 17". The bag has an Elements Cover that uses the black side in rain or snow and the silver side in sunshine for heat reflection. The bag is carried by a handle, waist belts and a backpack harness.

Comments about JVC Backpack Journalism Case:
I like the adjustable compartments, lots of pocket, weather cover, and laptop holder. It's a little bulky but what do you expect?

Comments about JVC Backpack Journalism Case:
I use this case to store and carry my JVC GY-HM100 video camera and equipment. When I first got it I was surprised at the size of the backpack but realized that was necessary if it was going to provide solid protection for the equipment. There is ample room and the interior of the case is easily customizable to fit whatever your equipment needs are.

Comments about JVC Backpack Journalism Case:
I have used this case for professional use for the last 10 months. It has held up very well and still looks great.
It adds plenty of protection for the camera and other gear.
It also is about perfect in terms of size, as far as I'm concerned. Another reviewer said it's overkill, but not for me. I use the side pockets for audio equipment such as wireless and other microphones and use the extra space inside the main compartment for filters, a small lens cleaning kit, wide-angle lens, extra batteries, on camera light, etc. There's really no extra room.
I also really like the space for a laptop computer. I sometimes take my 17-inch Apple laptop with me on shoots to show footage to clients, and it fits in the pack nicely without taking up any space designed for other equipment.
Frankly, I don't know how to make this pack any better. It would work well for many small cameras similar in size to the JVC hm100 - which is what I use it for - as well as DSLR or other still cameras.
While I'm in the video business, my girlfriend is in the photography business, and she has been so impressed with it, she would actually like to get a pack like this too. The design of the inside allows you to change the configuration to fit the gear you've got - a very nice feature. The fact that the inside is nice and bright is very nice too.
In sum up, while this pack is not cheap, it is very well made and worth the money.

Comments about JVC Backpack Journalism Case:
Up front, this is a very nice bag. It was, however, extreme overkill for my needs. Also, it is worth noting that this is a generic Kata backpack with a JVC logo slapped on it. While it is advertised as being a Backpack Journalism Case by JVC, this is actually NOT the case. This is significant because, while it is advertised to fit the GY-HM100 (the reason I initially bought it), the bag is really NOT made for it. Will it work? Yes. But be prepared for a lot of fiddling with the velcro inner divider walls to grip the camera well. And be prepared for a LOT of extra space. Depending on your needs, this could be a good thing. For me, it was major overkill. That said, it is a nice bag, but not what I was expecting. [...]
