Wanted an inexpensive radio to replace the pocket radio I lost. The radio seems to be the same design dating back to the 60's when the 6 transistor radio was first introduced.

The only con is the radio jack that is accessed from the side which prevents me from carrying the radio in a pouch when running or walking. Most pocket radios have earphone jacks on top so that the wires can come out of a shirt pocket, belt & pouch etc. Also the earphone jack in mono only--not good for earphones, ear buds and the like.

Biking or hiking this product is an unusually good buy. Compact, basic functions, and reliable. Provides clean AM/FM audio using a slide analog tuner with station tuning signal. Two standard AA batteries power the unit on a long term basis. Love it!

This is easy to use. I like the size and portability of the radio. I don't like the fact that the head phone jack is mono. A stereo headphone jack would be nice.

I like this radio because it is AM/FM, has pretty good sound for a small radio and is very inexpensive. I would highly recommend and I don't know how they can sell this for such a low price.

This Sony pocket radio replaces one from an earlier generation, probably 20 years ago. The former one suffered from too many drops to the floor. The earlier one had better listening fidelity. I would give that one 5 stars. This one only gets 4 stars.

Simplicity is its virtue. Nice sized speaker for many situations. Very good reception on both am and fm bands. Great for sport events and jogging. Very tough.

I purchased three of these radios for use in case we lost power at my office or my home. One was given to my folks. Surprisingly, they are pretty darn good little radios, are easy on batteries, and have decent sound. I use one in my kitchen where it sits above the sink with no dangerous electrical cord hanging around. Who knew they still made these? Sony is a great product and still makes one heck of a transistor radio.

I liked this radio so much, I bought two of them just in case Sony quit making them. Most radios in the 10 dollar range look extremely cheap and perform the same. Not this one. Radio operation is simple and the batteries last for weeks on two AA's. On a good night I can get AM stations 500 miles away. You don't need the telescoping antenna for AM as the AM operates on an internal antenna, so the unit is very portable in AM mode. I don't use FM much but it works fine. The unit only has one speaker so don't expect high fidelity sound. This would be a good unit to keep on the shelf for power outages and other emergencies too. Highly recommended.

I haul the radio from room to room to follow talk radio subjects and music tracks. It' small enough to carry in a shirt pocket. Quality is excellent.

Was looking for an am/fm to take to the football games, things happen the announcers don't inform you about plus I wanted to listen to our local station. The reception is great,remember this is a small radio your not getting stereo sound better then I expected. Also good to have in the house for emergency.

Had a similar radio and gave it away when I got a digital pocket radio. I use it only for AM. The digital had a constant drift in tuning and ate batteries for lunch. Took a step back in technology and bought this Sony. Just as good as the one that got away. Can't say anything negative about it, I wish I had a reason to buy a second one.

Have one in every room + in the car & purse + give for gifts. Superior to other brands I've used. Even after 10 years, my first one is useable, i.e., I've dropped it dozens of times, & except for tuning dial "sticking" occasionally, the sound quality remains superb. Also very useful w/ear buds.

I have been looking for an old transistor-style radio to take to the baseball games so that we can listen to the commentary while we cheer on our Astros. This was exactly what I was looking for and at the best price around. Great reception. Bought an earphone splitter for the earphone jack and now two of us can listen at the same time. Also took it to the beach several miles (50?) from Houston and we were able to pick up Houston stations without difficulty. I would highly recommend this radio for similar pursuits.
