With its continued excellence in Blu-ray 1080p compatibility, exquisite HD audio reproduction, and Logic 7 processing, Harman Kardon introduces the AVR-3600 7 x 80W 7.1-Channel Home Theater Receiver. Designed for both professional and home entertainment enthusiasts this receiver boasts (4) HDMI (V 1.3a) Deep Color inputs with repeater technology, which provide an effortless, high-bandwidth transfer of video and audio signals to the latest HDTV 1080p displays. Faroudja DCDi Cinema processing is the backbone to its 1080p HD upconversion and it also upconverts to 720p and 1080i HD through the component video I/O section. Harman Kardon utilizes Cirrus CS 49700 32-Bit DSP Processing, 192KHz/24-bit audio processing, and built-in Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD Master Audio and DTS-HD High-Resolution audio decoders to create a wider, more enveloping surround sound experience.
Further expand your music and cinema tracks with its Logic 7 Processing; it's capable of upconverting 2-channel stereo signals into 5- or 7-channel signals. Easily integrate and enjoy full control and HD content from your iPod or iPhone with the included Bridge III docking station. And it's Sirius Satellite Radio Ready with an optional adapter and service. Moreover, it presents superb functionality and versatility that will be hard to match. With its A-BUS ready capability, the AVR-3600 offers a multi-zone whole-house audio solution with the addition of an optional expansion hub.
Additionally, it features 6 or 8-channel discrete audio inputs, multi-room Zone 2 output with Zone 2 remote control, 5.1-channel preamp output, IR I/O, heavy-duty binding posts, (4) optical/(3) coaxial digital audio inputs, and an AM/FM tuner. Also, its EzSet/EQ calibration enables a quick and easy system setup. With convenient front-panel A/V inputs, USB port for future upgrades, 8-device programmable remote control, HD menu system and connectivity to virtually any A/V source or playback component you can imagine, your entertainment choices are endless with Harman Kardon's AVR-3600.
For example, the ABH-4000 from Harman Kardon provides a cost-effective way to create a 4-zone audio system using only source components (receiver) and A-BUS controller keypads such as the AB-1 and AB-2 modules.

Comments about Harman Kardon AVR-3600 7.1-Channel A/V Receiver:
The HK AVR3600 replaces a prior model (due to a lightening strike) and I couldn't be happier with this AVR. More power, better sound options, ease of use still incredible. It is my hub for my Blue Ray, HDTV, Computer Output (2) and changing between the 4 inputs is with a push of a button. Great design.

Comments about Harman Kardon AVR-3600 7.1-Channel A/V Receiver:
I was looking to upgrade my old Harman Kardon system to take advantage of high def audio from BluRay movies. I'd done some research and was interested in the AVR 2600 (good features and within my price range). Found the AVR 3600 on sale [...], couldn't pass up the great deal, and decided to upgrade. [...]I am happy with the receiver. Following the directions and the on-screen instructions, installation was easy. I'm not a professional, but I enjoy the experience of watching movies and listening to quality audio. The AVR 3600 didn't let me down. There's plenty of power for my needs and the high def audio is a great addition. I'm sure there are other systems out there that are less expensive, have more features, or are better deals, but I'm preferential to HK and enjoy their products. I'd easily recommend this unit [...]

Comments about Harman Kardon AVR-3600 7.1-Channel A/V Receiver:
This is a truly great A/V reciever in its class. This is a unit that will fill the need of those, like myself, who lean toward sound quality before features. The features it does have are not intuitive to use. It was very difficult to discern if many adjustments were global or input specific. When setup in a minimal feature mode, the unit sounds fantastic. The sound is flat and accurate from low to high level listening.
There are enough features to meet the desires of most A/V enthusiasts. Although many of the signal enhancements truly fall short. MP3 enhancer is best left disabled. 2-speaker virtual surround is very unrealistic. But the one enhancement feature that really performs is the 5.1 surround fields for stereo tracks. The unit has Dolby Music and DTS Neo6. I was especially surprised at Harmon's own Logic 7 processing. It gave the music a very realistic presence and blend among all speakers.
The remote is nothing to cheer about. It's difficult to handle but has large buttons. You MUST point it directly at the unit for it to receive a command. Layout is fair. It has learning capability but is difficult to execute.
Otherwise, the unit lacks networking and digital media features. It comes with the 'bridge' Ipod dock. For those of us who TRUELY love music and would never think of owning something so constraining as an ipod will find it quite useless. (this lemming still refuses to jump off that cliff) For what this unit lacks in bells and whistles, it makes up for in sound quality. ENJOY!

Comments about Harman Kardon AVR-3600 7.1-Channel A/V Receiver:
This is my first Harmon Kardon product, and so far, it's performance has lived up to and even exceeded its reputation. The unit is hooked up in my living room, where we do the majority of our viewing/listening. As I've been slow wiring my house, the receiver is currently driving only my fronts, center and sub. Even still, with the Logic 7 processing, the listening experience is unbelievably awesome!
Setup: Set-up was very intuitive with user-friendly on-screen menus. Plenty of inputs for whatever you might want to hear or view. I have a Sony Blue-Ray player (BDP-S350) on video duty and a DirecTV HD DVR for broadcast shows. The H/K is responsible for upscaling to my LG-55LH90. My wife and I were both amazed at what a noticeable difference there was during any viewing. All the sound is pumped through a Paradigm Cinema 110 suite.
Performance: Everything from Rock / Alternative to Country / Jazz is amazing! Far better than the 10 year old Sony receiver it replaced! We haven't messed much with the processing because the Logic 7 Music processing is that good. Video performance is equally good. Video upscaling produces high quality images with no noticeable artifacts or other degradation.
Overall: I am extremely satisfied with the purchase of this receiver. After all the research, this was receiver was on my short list along with the Yamaha RX-V765BL and the Onkyo TX-SR707. After some careful consideration of what I needed (high quality video and audio processing with iPhone/iPod connectivity), the H/K won me over. If you're like I was and maybe on the fence, know that I am NOT disappointed with the H/K.

Comments about Harman Kardon AVR-3600 7.1-Channel A/V Receiver:
I got this receiver after a lot of research and reading. Although I got it because I had already set my eyes on it.
The receiver is good for the price considering its iPod ready. The surround sound produced is good. I never had a surround system. But even after installing this with JBL speakers I don't really feel the awe of it. I am not impressed. I guess I am not impressed easily. EZ EQ system is really accurate at calibrating the speakers.
I guess I will have to do some tuning myself to properly take advantage of the receiver. But so far its worth the money!!
