It greatly improved the picture on my Sony Bravia. The sound quality is really good. Not sure that I like the auto feature on the sound. The remote would not find my Dish Dvr, I use a Harmony anyway.

Comments about Harman Kardon AVR-2600 7.1-Channel A/V Receiver:
I bought the 2600 to upgrade from my old AVR-330 (using an external HDMI switch). What an amazing difference!
Some folks say you can spend a good amount of time setting up but I just had to unplug from the 330 and into the 2600 - no problems. The new on-screen GUI is a great improvement and easy to use. The easy EQ was OK out of the box, so I didn't have to bother with that though some people think it isn't great. I would probably prefer to set these levels myself anyway in the end f I did want to change anything.
I have read that some people had problems with the video but I did not see that at all, though I didn't try the HDMI Bypass, the procedure looks relatively easy if you READ THE MANUAL (a new idea for some).
Yes, the oft' cited audio lag upon switching sources it a minor annoyance...but my HK AVR-330 did this also as have many other receivers I've tested. I sort of expect it with digital audio, and it is no big deal. I don't know what all the complaining is about.
Automatic Dolby Volume is amazing! I hated having to turn the volume way down before switching to some channels or devices. Now the Dolby Volume control adjusts for loud commercials and also maintains a relatively constant volume from one input to the next. Next to the amazing video quality, including upconverted video, this is my favorite feature!
The only cons I see, when comparing to my old 330, is that some of the 330's manual, front-panel controls are gone and the automated controls in the on-screen GUI are not as flexible. For example, my preferred audio mode even for movies is Dolby PLII MUSIC - but that selection isn't even available when actually watching a movie on the 2600 because it assumes if you are watching a movie you want the movie mode. But that is minor since the movie mode is actually pretty darned good anyway and the difference is rather subjective.
In conclusion, the HK 2600 works perfectly for me, sounds amazing and looks even better! I am very much in love!

Fantastic receiver and easy set up, I replaced an onkyo which died. As far as audio quality and ease of use the AVR-2600 far surpasses my last one at a quarter of the cost!

Comments about Harman Kardon AVR-2600 7.1-Channel A/V Receiver:
I've been sold on HK products for a long time. I'm the Technical Director at a performing arts theater and we've been using JBL speakers and Soundcraft mixing consoles, going on 2 decades now. All part of the HK family. So when it came time to build a home theater system. I was naturally attracted to this receiver. Plenty of power if you pair it with the right speakers. In my case JBL ES Series. ES90 Floor-standing for the front L and R, ES250 Sub, ES25 Center and ES20 surrounds. I'm sure this may come across as being a bit bias but y'all, I've never heard sound as crystal clear as this receiver reproduces. Other than at work of course. The speakers have a lot to do with it but if you pump inferior gas into a Ferrari it will run like [*]! If you own an iPhone or iPod buy the Bridge 3 dock for this receiver. You'll be glad you did. The on screen menu is very nice but I wish it had larger font. I'm not as young as I used to be. The EZEQ is simple and very accurate but for some folks precision desired. I can tweak the db to each speaker but I found the EZEQ to be quite enough. As for the video side. It's everything I wanted in an AVR. I have my Direct TV DVR and LG Blue Ray in it and both have incredible picture quality. I really like how smart this thing is. It will automatically scale to the best picture quality as long as you let it and it does the same with the audio. I'm not a sound engineer so I don't need to constantly mess with the mix like they do but It will allow me to adjust certain things if I see or hear the need. I feel it's the best bang for the buck. Oh sure you could spend a buttload of money on better systems to impress your friends but the HK family has enough prestige for me. Besides, I'm too old to compete anymore. That is unless we're sitting down for supper! LOL!!!!

The HK 2600 is as smart as it is good looking. In a market where so much of the competition is emblazoned with knobs, dials, stickers, and other techno-paraphernalia, this piece stands out in the crowd being worthy of a spot in a modern art museum.
Functionally, it married with our gaming and video equipment seamlessly. It's controls are intuitive and we would highly recommend this product. Spec'd at a lower wattage than it's competitors doesn't matter here.

Comments about Harman Kardon AVR-2600 7.1-Channel A/V Receiver:
I chose this receiver for its streamlined clean look. It was straightforward, although time-consuming, to set up. The connections on the back are well-made, well-organized, and well-labeled in the manual. It was a little tight getting my very thick speaker cables all screwed into the binding posts. It has been harder to learn the remote than to set the system up. I like to listen to my music in 2CH Stereo mode and watch my TV in surround. Once I finally figured out how to get that to happen though, the receiver seems to remember my settings for the different inputs. It works. No complaints thus far.

Great sound and simple to operate once you work through the set up process. Instruction manual not the best but once you get it set up (which is not really that hard) it has great sound. Much better than my 10 year old Onkyo system that it replaced.

Comments about Harman Kardon AVR-2600 7.1-Channel A/V Receiver:
The unit works just fine except for occasional audio drop outs. HK tech support says a new firmware release in September 2010 *should* correct the problem. If it does then it gets a 5 star rating. If not I will ask for a replacement unit.

Comments about Harman Kardon AVR-2600 7.1-Channel A/V Receiver:
Without a doubt, this receiver is the easiest I have ever set up. The on screen feature makes it very easy. It is however much more difficult to do if your just using the receiver display. I'm not a pro so having the easy speaker setup made my life and the sound better than I could have made it.
I would recommend to any of my friends>

Very happy with the results

We use it for surround sound and now hear sounds from Blu-Ray movies that we never heard before. We bought it to replace a receiver that we had had for about 15 years.
