I use this radio while I go on long runs and when I do yard work. I am on my second radio. The first one I dropped and one of the two audio channels went silent. My first unit began to have some problems on the volume adjuster. The sound would cut in and out. I figure that no piece of equipment will last for ever. I jogged with the first one for several years, and hundreds of miles. I'm now on my second unit and am happy with it. Reception of AM and FM are very good. It comes with headphones, but I buy ear buds to use instead. I recommend it to those who like to listen to music or talk radio, and especially to those who like to feed their brain while they exercise.

First off, the physical dimensions and design are pretty good and the price is very reasonable.
What really surprised and disappointed me is the reception of this radio. Local FM stations suffer from fading and distortion, AM seems a bit better. I bought this model as a replacement for an old similar sony model that eventually stopped receiving FM signals. Before the old unit broke, it's reception was much better than this one. Sadly, the days of Sony making quality products seem to be over.
I purchased two of these, one for me and another for a friend. He said he hasn't noticed any reception issues (lives on the same block) so perhaps I got a lemon...

It is small but brings in both local and distance signals well. Decent head phones for the price. I have no buyer's regrets.

Comments about Sony SRF-M37W Walkman Digital Tuning Weather Radio (Black):
Ordered this radio primarily to use while cycling, working out or shopping during the day since I enjoy sports and political talk AM radio as well as music. Other reviews led me to think the reception was exceptional ("Prison Radio"?) and there were plenty of pre-sets. Neither is true. Reception is decent but no better than my old Walkman (cassette player), and that radio has tons of FM presets. This one has 10, plus 5 AM. Weather Band has total of 7 channels, which is ridiculous as they're all tuned to same content (all sound the same, anyway). Still, the sound is quite good for just one AAA battery. I'm satisfied, not thrilled.

Great, powerful little am-fm radio, great am reception in Manhattan, no small feat. Good battery usage as well. I love this little radio! I don't care about the weather channel, but it's nice to know it's there if I want it.

Bought it. Returned it. Headphones are not very good. Tried my earbuds from my Sansa Clip, which vastly improved the sound. However, they did not improve the reception. I live 10 miles north of downtown Chicago, and this receiver had difficulty with some stations. The weather channels were basically useless.

I still have not upgraded to an iPod nano or other with AM/FM radio so this radio is exactly what I was looking for for local radio reception. I just plug my ear pods into it.
Reception is great and it has a weatherband. My car doesn't even have that!

I already have one of these and wanted another to use at work. I listen to NPR in the mornings and own my own woodshop. Spend a lotta time by myself. Good when used with sound isolating earbuds.

I enjoy using this radio.
I would like to see one of the station buttons to have a raised feeling (like a small pinhead or such) to help locating it in he dark and use it to navigate to other buttons. But that's a small (and picky?) comment.
Overall, I enjoy it and would definitely recommend it.

Bought this as replacement for one purchased only 8 months ago elsewhere that has failed to retain station and time settings during a brief battery switch. I use it daily while walking, working out, and in house when my wife doesn't want audible ballgame "noise." So even though a single rechargeable battery lasts for a few days, having to re-set all the stations and time again each time is a major pain. Will try to navigate the warranty system and get the old one fixed up to serve elsewhere. Besides better reliability of the capacitor or whatever that is supposed to hold the settings, the only design change I'd make is to eliminate the weather band, perhaps adding another round of 5 AM stations instead.

[...] we love the radio. We use ours to listen to the radio broadcast while attending Cleveland Indians ballgames. My only complaint is the belt clip design is too flimsy. The detachable belt clip broke off the first time I sat down with the radio attached to my belt.

Comments about Sony SRF-M37W Walkman Digital Tuning Weather Radio (Black):
I bought this radio to listen to the broadcast of football games that I attend and it works great for that. But it is also a great radio for jogging or walking, or anytime you want to rock out without disturbing others.
It has more than enough presets to store all of my favorite stations, both AM and FM. The lockout feature that prevents inadvertent station changing is also very nice. Since it uses the headphone cable as an antenna, FM reception is very good. AM reception is also good, although there is a little direction sensitivity on weaker stations.
The open air headphones are comfortable and work well, but because of the very high noise environment at football games, I use an in-ear headset, which I find to be a little more efficient, ie. I get louder volume at the same setting with the in-ear speakers.
Tuning works best if you know the frequency of the station you are looking for, since there is no seek or scan function, but you can hear the stations as you scroll by when you hold down the up/down button, so that works too.
All in all, this is a very good radio for the money, and I am very happy with my purchase.

I use the small AM/FM radio while walking. The ease to change stations without looking at the unit is great once the presets are entered. I use Bose Earbuds for bette sound than the larger uncomfortable head set that comes with the radio.
Perfect to hang on the belt or pocket.
Not able to pick up an weather channels on the unit. Don't know why since I'm within 3 miles from a NOAA weather broadcasting station.

This is the best portable radio I've had out of many. The reception is fantastic, better than many larger radios. Because of the small size it works well with a belt clip and doesn't break off the clip like other radios. It fit into your shirt pocket as well. Runs on 1 AAA battery for a long time. If you want a pocket size radio with great reception this is the one to own.

Was looking for a small radio primarily for the gym. Poor indoor reception. No scan button to find stations, you have to press repeatedly to find a station that comes in clearly. No light to read what station your listening to. Replaced headphones with buds. One weather channel. Poor overall design. Not what I would expect from Sony.
