The Sony SRF-M85 S2 Sports Walkman Armband Radio is an ideal workout companion. Not just for exercising though, the Armband Radio is perfect for hands-free listening any time of the day, as well as catching local weather broadcasts. Simply slide the radio on your arm with the included armband or attach it to your belt with the belt clip.
The Walkman's Mega Bass Sound System puts out powerful, deep bass to keep you motivated, no matter if you're on the elliptical or washing dishes. There's also an angled LED display that's easy to read and features Up/Down controls for access to the 25 station preset memory.
The SRF-M85 isn't just a radio though; it also does double duty as a stop watch. So you can keep the wrist watch at home. All you need is 1 'AAA' battery and you're ready to rock for hours on end.

I bought one of these in 2006. I spend a great deal of time outside. I use the belt clip for this radio and it works very well. I am hard on electronics and this one lasted four years before the connection between the headphones and radio got spotty. Similar items I have used from other companies didn't make it one year.
The Good: Extremely rugged, excellent radio tuner (AM, FM Weather) and stopwatch/countdown timer. excellent battery life - it takes one AAA battery and that usually lasts about 3-4 months with daily usage.
The Bad: Will not turn itself off. When you replace the battery your stored station settings are lost and the connection to the headphones did go bad, but after four years of heavy, rugged use. That I bought another one shows I think this is a excellent product.

simple to use and operate. Arm band could be a little better but it does work pretty well. Not sure how battery life will turn out?

Comments about Sony SRF-M85 S2 Sports Walkman Armband Radio:
A morning commute to the city on the Staten Island ferry, a relay track event, the sailboat race on the lake, an aerobic exercise routine at the gym, the morning jog, up-to-date weather forecasts on the fishing trip, a handy car ride companion for a passenger on that long anticipated trip, and it's perfect for the poolside private listening session. The Sony Sports Walkman is a wonderful audio and time measurement accessory for all of these applications and many more as well. The Sony SRF-M85W FM/AM/Weather Band S2 Sports Walkman is a well-constructed, water-resistant, 3 band portable radio that is deftly suited for your sports and work related travel endeavors. The Sony Walkman performs well on the morning bus ride to work, can easily handle an inclement weather event while walking on the boardwalk, and produce quality audio in adverse operating conditions. This Sony SRF-M85W Walkman features 5mW + 5mW high output audio power for seemingly perfect reception and reproduction of your favorite FM/AM radio stations. This portable offers excellent sensitivity and selectivity with respect to its reception capabilities of the analog broadcast radio spectrum. FM music stations come in with great fidelity and impressive bass response. AM band reception is equally adept at pulling in my favorite talk radio programs with great voice clarity. The Weather Band station that I can receive with this unit is audible, but the volume control must be increased to a much higher level compared to the FM/AM bands, to achieve satisfactory results. This Sony Sports Walkman is comfortable to wear either on your arm with the supplied arm band or on your belt with the included clip. The Sony Walkman's supplied sports stereo headphones are lightweight, provide the system's FM/WB antenna, and offer high quality sound performance. This Sony Walkman can stand up to the rigors that fall within the range of your sporting activities. The Sony SRF-M85W Walkman is replete with features that will make any sports or portable audio enthusiast happy. Those features include: digital phase locked loop synthesized FM/AM/WB tuner, FM stereo reception, Weather Band Channels 1-7 reception, sports headphones, 3.5mm headphone jack, 25 FM/AM/WB station presets, up/down preset tuning/time set controls, FM/WB headphone cord antenna, built-in AM ferrite bar antenna, DX/Local sensitivity switch, band selection switch, Mega Bass control, Mega Bass sound system, inverted LCD display, multi-function display modes, hold function, rotary volume control, power button, enter, mode, display controls, digital clock, stopwatch, split timer, pitch timer, start/stop, split/reset stopwatch controls, arm band, belt clip, one AAA battery operation, battery life indicator, and operating instructions. With its Mega Bass output, FM/AM/WB reception, advanced stopwatch feature set, lightweight design, long battery life, and ease of use, the Sony SRF-M85W Sports Walkman is the right choice for any portable audio need. Good Luck. Enjoy.

Just what I need to go walking. But the head phones are funky. They seem to be the stupid, nanny-state, politically-correct, protect-you-from-yourself kind that go into your ear sideways so you don't get the full range and volume of the music and break your eardrums and get hit by a bus. They are very uncomfortable. Plus, the headband makes wearing a hat almost impossible. Make sure to budget for a good pair of earbuds. Otherwise, I really like the radio. Easy to switch bands and so forth. Typical high Sony quality at a righteous B&H price. Gotta love B&H!

This is a simple old-fashioned Walkman AM-FM radio. It is handy that it also has local weather channels, because I use it on my boat.
Earlier models also tuned in TV channels 2-13 (now converted to digital). How about bringing back the tv tuner to tune in digital channels?

Comments about Sony SRF-M85 S2 Sports Walkman Armband Radio:
Bought this portable AM/FM/Weather Band walkman to listen to talk radio during my commute to work on the train and bus. The AM reception is stronger then the FM at a distance which is OK with me because I use AM about 90% of the time. It has a "lock" button to prevent the channels from changing in your pocket. Lacks a night light to see the screen in dark areas. The headphones that come with it are great. The armband will come in handy too. All in all, a nice handheld for traveling, biking, fishing or a day at the beach. Not a bad deal for the price!!
