Sony ZS-S4iPBLACK CD Boombox for iPod and iPhone
The Sony ZS-S4iPBLACK CD Boombox for iPod and iPhone could also be called a "room box". With its full-featured remote control, sleep timer and iPod/iPhone dock you might end up using it as much in your bedroom as you do on the go.
The integrated universal iPod/iPhone dock securely holds the selected device even while you're carrying this player/receiver. And the ZS-S4iP even charges your device while it's in the dock. In all, this boombox is compatible with nine different iPods and the iPhone so it can integrate into your existing stable of portable audio devices flawlessly. And the universal dock is likely to be compatible with future Apple players too.
The ZS-S4iP is also a full-featured AM/FM receiver with 10 AM and 20 FM presets so you can enjoy your favorite talk, sports and music programming whether you're on a picnic or drifting off to sleep knowing the sleep timer will turn off the ZS-S4iP by the time you're in dreamland.

This is a great unit at a great pricepoint.
It was unbelievably difficult to find a simple tabletop unit like this that has a charging iPod dock, CD player and radio with integrated speakers in one compact, well designed package.
This radio is being used in a nursery, so aside from the 3 inputs, the #1 one criteria was that the LCD couldn't be too big/bright. Unlike every other unit we researched, your neighbors across the street won't be able to read the LCD!
The iPod controls are integrated and easy to use. The super light/small remote control offers full and very intuitive functionality.
The footprint of this isn't too big, it takes up a small corner on a dresser. It's very portable with an integrated handle (it is a boombox after all) so easy to move from one room of the house to another.
Nice range of volume levels for a wide range of uses in the future.
Sound quality is surprisingly good for such a small unit, in line with expectations and needs.
The only thing that seems a bit flimsy is the optional door on the iPod dock. Sony could've left it out; it's not necessary.
In all a winner!

I think for the sound quality the price point should have been cheaper. It does charge the ipod and play with no issues. I use models from a touch to an old classic.

I use this in my bedroom for music as I rest. Play my iPod a lot and listen to Cd's. The sound is good quality but nothing exceptional. Worth the price. Very portable also. Fairly large.

i use this as a living room cd player. it works well for what i got it for, but i can see how it might not get as loud as others might want. i really like the remote, which you can use to access your ipod (or cds/radio). nice and compact and i like the battery/cord options. i'm very happy with this boombox.

without an ipod this is just a round piece of plastic. I thought the quality of the materials was pretty low. The ipod door is very flimsy (the one I ordered arrived damaged).
I now think a boombox with an audio-in jack is far superior than anything with an ipod dock, all of which will probably become obsolete.
beware planned obsolescence.

However, I'm disappointed it doesn't work with my iPhone4-- it's just for iPhone3's.

I use it in my elementary music classroom-it is so convenient to use my ipod with the students. Using the remote is also very handy. I haven't used the radio yet. I did have to prop it up on a couple of books so I could see the controls on my iphone.

This works as advertised nicely. The IPHONE and IPOD play is excellent. The remote controls the whole IPOD menu from skipping songs to volume control to going through playlists. The sound is good enough unless your trying to DJ, otherwise normal around the house play is excellent. You have all your presets if u listen to FM or AM (sports for me)radio. This is just perfect for a modern day boom box. It aint too big, so it allows transport. As for bass, I listen to hip hop and its fine for me. I paid [$] on sale. It was worth it.
