Beside looking sleek and stylish, my SD940 is just the perfect camera for someone who loves taking their camera everywhere. It fits nicely even in a small purse and is very easy to use. The HD video aspect is a new and great addition to Elphs, as far as I know. I have always owned an Elph and this product reminds me exactly why. It's easy to use, sharp pictures and good zoom.
One complaint I have is, the instruction manual doesnt detail how to use many of the features and modes on the Elph, You're left to fend for yourself on anything deeper than point and click. One other complaint is auto flash can sometimes be a little off...you need the flash in certain points when the camera feels you don't...obviously you can easily set that but just a small issue. But I still love my camera!

I was very excited to get this camera.. I bought it for [$]i believe. I had never dropped it, and the first time I did.. which was four months into owning it.. it malfunctioned like crazy.. It stayed that way[...] I owned a Casio digital camera for 5 years, and it still works to this day. I had dropped and hit that thing everywhere.. So for durability, I would say to go with a different camera. Especially if you have kids, or if you're clumsy, or if you take it out to clubs or whatever. I just randomly dropped mine, and only about 3.5 feet above the ground.. I was very upset. Now I own a Nikon.

i got this camera about two weeks ago and i love it!
there is one flaw to it which is after you take a video, it takes about twenty seconds for the yellow light to stop flashing (meaning i should wait till it stops). otherwise, it is an amazing camera with many uses.

Only had the camera for a week. So far love the form factor of the camera, and fotos that it takes. The battery seems to be great. Although I've always had Canons and know the menu structure, due to the small buttons it makes it slightly hard to navigate through the menu options. However i guess this wont be a problem, as in normal day-2-day use, menu options is used a lot less then when initially setting up the camera.

I like the size, and the pixels make for very nice photos from a point and shoot.
The size of the monitor in the back is also very impressive.
A very nice product all around.

I'm a nature writer working on a new book and I have a digital SLR camera with several lenses, but I was looking for a small camera that I could carry in my pocket while out walking and hiking. I needed something with a good zoom that would be easy to use and yet take great photos!! I could not be more pleased with the PowerShot SD940!! It is the perfect camera for my needs.

Comments about Canon PowerShot SD940 IS Digital Camera (Blue):
This camera works well for point and shoot out of the box. I have an SLR for serious photography but wanted something that I can easily carry around for those spontaneous shooting moments. People with larger hands may think it is too small as it is a bit smaller than a smart phone, but it works great for me. Only problem is in low light situations it can sometimes increase shutter speed when you want flash or use flash when you want longer exposures, but that isn't too hard to circumvent by turning off auto flash.

Comments about Canon PowerShot SD940 IS Digital Camera (Blue):
I purchased this camera for my wife, who wanted a simple but good point-and-shoot digital camera to carry regularly. I routinely use and carry digital SLRs. The differences are distinct, and any person intending to replace an SLR with this camera will likely find himself disappointed. However, recognizing that this is a different type of camera for different purposes, the Canon SD940 IS produces good images easily. The compact size and profile make it easy to carry. The build quality is good compared to similar models. I will continue to use SLRs primarily, but find this camera to suit my intended purpose perfectly. Battery life is shorter than I would have anticipated, likely due to the necessary use of the LCD for taking pictures as well as reviewing pictures. The battery life is apparently similar to other models, based on discussions I've had with owners of similar cameras since purchasing this one.

I was going to get a Flip, but I did some homework and purchased this camera instead. I am really impressed with the quality of the video. I can't comment on the quality of the video of the Flip, but with this camera you get a removable battery (which means you can carry a fully charged spare) and a removable memory card.

easy to 'accidently' push the wrong command while trying to actually take a picture. not getting good stabilization or clear quality images. still playing with it but not finding it so user friendly.

I use it as an all around camera I can carry with me at all times without being concerned of weight or size. The SD940 will serve the purpose of having pictures such as "family" or "travel" pictures or get the "artistic" picture you need when you are not carrying your SRL.

this is the best point and shoot digicam that i know. it's small, light, has a big lcd screen, doesn't break easily - even when you drop it - and takes gorgeous pictures with or without flash. i have numerous great shots of people and faces inside clubs and parties and they are not washed out or flat looking.

Comments about Canon PowerShot SD940 IS Digital Camera (Blue):
I am a semi-pro photographer who needed something smaller...kind of a "throw and go" camera that I could take backpacking or when I have the kids with me. The Nikon Digital SLR is my usual choice and takes fantasic pics but the Nikon point and shoot line I found to be slow and the pics weren't anything to display. I tried Panasonic, Casio, Sony and Fuji and nothing was making the grade. A friend of mine told me about this one and I was very surprised. small, durable and still let's me control most functions for the shot I wanted....and from a Canon no less! (I am kind of a Nikon snob....nothing beats Nikon!) I am very impressed with the pics this little camera puts out and would recommend it to anyone who wants great pics from a point and shoot. .....shhhhhhh don't tell anyone I use a Canon.....I have bad-mouthed them for years.......I'll repent now.

The camera worked really fine for slightly more than a year and then broke down completely. I took it to a repair shop and they said that the motherboard got burnt. We did not do anything to cause it.
