Comments about Rolls PM55 Personal Monitor Amp:

This headphone amp is great for troubleshooting any microphone or line level signal. It's nice that it has a 3.5mm connection as well for non-professional headphones. The ability to switch between mono and stereo for the TRS input is awesome. The only downsides are no phantom power and you need XLR to TRS adapters if you are checking a piece of gear with XLR connections.

Comments about Rolls PM55 Personal Monitor Amp:

I use this box for a headphone tap when boom oping. It reduces the cables I have to pull if I were to get a headphone return feed via a separate cable. The unit doesn't affect the mic signal at all, even if the box is powered off. It also passes phantom and T-power to the mic with no problems. For my usage, the BC17 is a necessity.
The only downside is that the power button has to be pushed really far in to latch on. When off the button is flush, and when on the button is recessed into the unit far enough to need a pen to push it.

Comments about Rolls PM55 Personal Monitor Amp:

The hookup for the PM55 is easy. It requires monitor (balanced-TRS) and mic (XLR) cables from your sound system/device to the PM55 Amp. The cables tend to present some clutter but this is overshadowed by the capability this Amp offers to the limited budget/home recorder. This Amp provides the person being recorded the ability to mix tracks and voice to their needs on headphones or external active monitors yet the "pass through" of voice doesn't effect recording. This capability is worth more than the cost of the Amp.

Comments about Rolls PM55 Personal Monitor Amp:

I engineer/produce radio broadcasts and use the PM-55 as headphone amp for on-air talent. The set-up is perfect. The individual announcer can choose the levels of their own mix of his/her own mic and my monitor feed. And since it is a mic pass-thru, the adjustment of the mic level on the front of the box doesn't change the level being sent to my mixer. I even had a genius friend add a small cough button so talent can interrupt their mic if they need to hack up a lung. Having the option of using a 9V battery is a plus as well.
