The Aspire AS1410-8414 Notebook Computer from Acer is an ultra-slim 11.6" notebook computer, designed with functionality and portability in mind. The notebook features a 16:9 aspect ratio 11.6" screen with a LED backlight for optimal image quality. It weighs a scant 3.1 pounds, and is only about an inch thick when closed. Its Lithium-ion battery can provide up to 6 hours of life per charge.
Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 is installed on the computer, which features a spacious 250GB hard drive and 2GB of RAM. The integrated webcam and microphone are great for video chats, and you'll be able to get online via the integrated dual-band 802.11n Wi-Fi. Its multi-gesture touchpad supports circular-motion scrolling, pinch-action zoom, and page flip. The full-size FineTip keyboard provides comfortable typing.
An integrated card reader allows you to download photos onto the computer. An extensive software bundle, which includes Microsoft Works and McAfee Internet Security Suite, is installed on the system. The computer is powered by an Intel Core 2 Solo Processor ULV SU3500, with graphics provided by the Intel GMA 4500MHD integrated GPU.

I use the notebook professionally. I added 2Gb of RAM memory and the computer is supporting very well all my needs.
The single point of less satisfaction is about the cam, but it can be my lack of ability to use it, as I have few usage of it recently.
In general, the processor is good speed and the weight...waw! It's amazing how lighter it is than my old 13"! I'm very satisfied and recommend the product, as it costs 3 times less than a similar Vayo.

I use this product for work to write up session notes in between home visits and at home for work and personal use. The laptop is light and easy to carry. The long battery life allows me to use it in the car between sessions.

Works great so far - portable, lightweight, relatively fast start-up, lots of memory.
Only complaints I would have is with the keyboard and starting programs. The keys are *so* flat and streamlined, sometimes it's hard for me to tell where the keys are when typing fast. (for me at least) there are too many starting promotional programs. I spent the first few hours just deleting installed programs.

Best Uses
This Acer has the Core 2 Solo CPU which is more powerful than the Atom. The HDD is large enough for anyone's needs(250GB) but it is very easy to upgrade to a larger one if needed. Came with 2GB Ram which I upgrded it to four the same day it arrived. Operation is smooth and quick. The VGA & HDMI outputs are wonderful. Large keyboard and screen make for easy typing and reading of information presented onscreen. I purchased this netbook to replace my 10" and I'm glad I did. Comes with a free upgrade to Windows 7. I Definitely recommend this netbook to anyone looking for a small but powerful unit that is super lightweight. I Definitely recommend this netbook to anyone.
