New projector from Epson released in Oct 09. Installed in new home theater, front-ceiling mounted. Easy set-up, great picture on white-painted wall. 132" diagonal HD picture. Been up & running for 2 weeks and over 70 hours. Lots of connectivity options (have only used HDMI so far). Very bright picture. Eco setting for lamp is plenty bright for extended lamp life. Like the potential long-life of lamp...4000-5000 hrs. Good set of features. Auto-keystone correction works well. Fits our home theater needs perfectly. Only Con, if you can call it that, is that Instant-On can take about 30 seconds for warm-up. Instant-Off works quickly & well. Used for cable TV (standard and HD), VCR tapes, Blu-Ray/DVD, and Wii games. Not top-of-the-line model but not top-of-price either. Good basic, well-featured home theater projector for the price.

Great for movies, color and brightness are as to be expected. The throw (size of the screen) is better than others in its class; however, when looking at photos on it its contrast and ability to display accurate skin tones is nowhere near as good as the epson PowerLite 8100, which our photo club uses.
I'll probably sell this projector to my parents for thier living room and buy the epson power lite for myself after Christmas. The only downside to the 8100 is its size...

I bought this projecion because i seen it in action first hand. Half the cost of a hdtv and picture quality is great. Just smoothed out the concrete wall in my basement with plaster. Made the screen 110" and lookes awesome. I game and watch movies with the xbox360 and watch satelitte tv with a hd splitter. Only thing i would have liked was a audio out control on the unit, have to have a receiver (surround sound) for good audio. xbox makes a audio rca component to hook up so u can use it with hd and surround sound.

The quality of video from the 705HD was actually better than I expected. The disappointing feature is the audio output from the machine. I added external speakers through my laptop which made the system completely awesome.

I did a lot of research before buying this handy little machine. I bought an HDMI cable and we are set up with my laptop. I wanted something to watch movies at home in our living room. We have airfoil which streams audio to our stereo speakers and works with Hulu and Netflix and also works with DVD's.
I can also take it to work to present videos and slideshows.

My projector is used in the home theatre application, in a basement setting. Since sound is the priority I'm using an acoustically transparent screen made from standard reflective fabric. Obviously using the proper screen would produce better visual results but I'm impressed with what I've seen so far on a 100" diameter screen.
The projector, I feel, is very user friendly. The Menu is easy to navigate around.
The fan is somewhat loud but the ECO mode makes up the difference since the fan operates at a lower speed.

This is a wonderful projector. I bought my second one after using the first regularly for 1 year. One criticism I have of the product is that after about 180 hours of eco bulb usage the image quality isn't as crisp and wonderful as a new projector. It's light, easy to use and really high quality image despite being half HD res. If it had horizontal keystone I would give it 5 stars.

I have only had this projector for a couple of weeks, but here is my review so far. This is the first projector that I have ever purchased. I was a little hesitant because I thought that the picture quality would not be able to match a television's. I was so wrong. I have this bad boy projecting a huge (around 100") image and it looks amazing. I am a gamer and am in heaven! The only thing that was a little annoying about this projector is that there is no audio out so I was unable to hook my speakers up to it, and will have to get some kind of interface for that.

I orginally began looking at projectors for a backyard theater project but when our TV started dying it became very clear that a projector as a home theater solution was going to give us the best bang forour buck. If we'd have paid twice what we did for the projector we still would have been 20 inches smaller than the 80 inch display we currently enjoy. We even went the extra mile and built a gorgeous screen with blackout cloth and picked up a 7.1 surround sound system. Again, All this for the cost of a 60 inch LCD. A buddy of mine saw the setup and bought one the next day and my brother is now considering the same. We could not be happier.

This projector does an excellent job as an HDTV sports projector (at about 80" to 100" screen size), as well as for general TV, in a moderately-darkened room. (Room lights being on is fine, sunlight is not.) This projector is amazingly bright, at 2500 lumens, especially for such a small projector. When compare to my previous Sony projector (which was nearly 4 times the price), the colors and black levels are not as "gorgeous", so it is not excellent for photographs and such, as others have reported, but great for any moving images with reasonably bright scenes. Also, bulbs are very long life and much cheaper as compared to most other projectors, so overall life-cycle cost should be low, low, low! 4.5 Stars.
