Comments about Acer 1TB Aspire easyStore H340 Home Server:
I have toyed with WHS in the past and decided to finally splurge and buy a real unit. This is solid, dependable, and easy to use. I have mine set up with the included 1TB drive, 1.5TB'a, and a 2TB. What really set's it apart from the competition is the PCIe slot that none of it's competitors have.(great for adding more E-SATA slots.) I have it set-up streaming to a WD HD Live and it works great. Transfer speeds are very very fast over gigabit.
Downsides, the only one I have i the included McAfee anti-virus is junk and should be uninstalled immediately. Beyond the fact that piece of software is horrible, this is a server and does not need an anti-virus. All files should have already been scanned on the clients before being uploaded.

Comments about Acer 1TB Aspire easyStore H340 Home Server:
I use it for automatic backups and storage. My computers can run fast and stable since a small and speedy storage that can hold your operating system and applications is all you need. The rest (My Music, Photos, Videos, other downloads) can be safely kept in this little server. Four hard-drives equal a total of 7.5 Terabytes of space to work with, think about that!

Comments about Acer 1TB Aspire easyStore H340 Home Server:
Used for centralized backup for multiple family laptops. It runs 24/7 although you can establish "sleep" times for automatic standby or manually put it in standby. I just wish it came standard with more than one hard drive because the price of 500Gb and 1 Tb drives is getting so low it wouldn't add much to the price. But installing an additional drive is so easy that it's a minor point except you have to DIY.

Comments about Acer 1TB Aspire easyStore H340 Home Server:
You would never know this was a server unless someone told you. It fits perfectly on my[...]shelves and in fact looks like a modern compact stereo. Pros: Small, quite, energy efficient and comes with a 1gig Green WD drive.Cons: Documentation is not that great, no monitor hook-up, can't expand memory. This Aspire easystore has solved many of the problems that I had been having trying to host files between networked windows 7 and XP computers. Half the time, they could not see each other. The other half, they could but would not transfer files. After hooking up this WHS to my new router and a couple days of xfering almost 900gig of files and things run pretty smooth. Every once in a while there are connection issues, but it's always the other computer's fault. It's working wonderfully hooked up via a Belkin N++ Router linking this WHS server with a PS3, WDTV live, and 3 Win 7 and 2 Win Xp computers. Backups run with no problems. I give this 4 stars only because I don't think I've ever seen a 5 on anything that is electronic. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a simple solution for a home server. It's almost plug and play. Oh, and get rid of McAfee as soon as the license expires. It really slows down the server. McAfee is a hog

Comments about Acer 1TB Aspire easyStore H340 Home Server:
I bought this server to use as a media hub and for automatic back ups of my home PCs and laptops. It worked great for about two weeks and then, failure. The hard drive and network card failed at the same time making it impossible to remote access the computer to do a system restore. The unit has to be sent back to acer for repairs (which will take about a month total) and you lose all your data. I would strongly suggest you look at other options before you buy this server.

Plugged it in and set it up and works great. It is backing up 3 laptops and I now have peace of mind. Nice that it is small and fits on a small shelf in our kitchen out of sight.
