Gary Fong's LSU-PS Lightsphere Universal PowerSnoot gives you directional control over the light from your strobe unit. It mounts with the same patent pending grip system as the Lightsphere Universal, secured with an included rubber band and a hook and loop fastener. The PowerSnoot will fit any rectangular flash up to 3.16" wide and 2" high. It is so strong that it can support the entire weight of a camera, drive and flash securely.

It takes some practice to get the best out of this product. The power snoot is emits a powerful, focused beam of light onto the subject. Works best when camera is operated in manual mode. By adjusting ISO, aperture and shutter speed you can create an incredible variety of "edgy" photo effects. By using low ISO, moderate shutter speed and small aperture (F10-16) you can isolate highlight your subject against a dark background, even in full daylight. Great for weddings and portraits. You can also use amber dome or cloudy dome from other Fong Lightsphere for a focused, softer light which is useful for a variety of situations. Once again the beam is so focused that by playing with shutter speeds, f stop and ISO you can fully or partially light your subject against a dark background anywhere.

THis item is a bit useless, if you use the grid if you're 2 meter (or less) from the subject, the grow pattern appear on the photo
*even on their website if you look at the picture of the woman in front of the pool (with the black top) you can clearly see 2 darker line on her shoulder, caused by the grid (you can also see the pattern on his website when the send the flash to a wall)
The only way I have been able to get rid of it is by using a dome diffuser on my flash before inserting the Powersnoot, or to put a diffusion gel inside the gris, that way is better but you loose power
And if you use without the grid and want a nice circle, you won't get it, there's 2 straight line (more bright) on both side of the circle and the circle is not that round either, it's a bit rhombus
Finally, he say in many video that the power snoot is making the light more powerful, which is wrong, I have sone test and got no difference in exposer with my SB-900 direct to subject and with the same flash with the Powersnoot
It's really a waste of money

Comments about Gary Fong LSU-PS Lightsphere Universal PowerSnoot:
I have the Gary Fong light sphere in addition to the PowerSnoot, which is why I got the Snoot. This thing rocks. You can easily isolate your subject using lighting, or give your scene a more dramatic and intense look. If you are involved with creative lighting, this is a must. If you shoot with flash a lot and want more even lighting and less harsh highlights, look into the gary fong light sphere.

Comments about Gary Fong LSU-PS Lightsphere Universal PowerSnoot:
The Gary Fong powersnoot is so easy to attach to my flash and works perfectly! I've used it on multiple shoots and it really gives you incredible dynamos lighting. The best learning tool for the product is to go to Gary Fong's site and watch his videos about it. Using those as a guide, I got EXACTLY the dramatic photos I wanted without spending a fortune on studio lighting.
Now the studio lighting fits in my bag!!!

Use of this product requires only a trip to Gary Fong's web site.
It is great for highlighting subjects in and out of the studio.
I wish the PowerSnoot attached to the flash head like the factory diffuser, clips onto the side instead of strapped on with velcro.

Once you get around with playing with your flash settings, this powersnoot does an excellent job for dramatic lighting portraits. I only gave it 4 stars because of how much space it takes up. It would be cool if Fong made this thing somewhat collapsible.

The Lightsphere work like a spot light to light subjects from a farther distant than I normally shoot from. Great for shooting concerts.

A very easy to use attachment for hot shoe rectangular-head flashes. I use it with Canon Speedlites and have been very pleased with the results.
Use the PS by itself is fantastic, and using the Honeycomb grid provides amazing control on-and-off camera.
The only potential issue is the tongues that go over the flash - I worry about them getting stressed when bending to fit on smaller flashes. But so far so good!

I like very contrast-y images and night photography is great for that. Using the PowerSnoot works perfectly to help me achieve the look I am trying to get - without having to buy tons of equipment and a Truck to haul it around in!

Comments about Gary Fong LSU-PS Lightsphere Universal PowerSnoot:
Well I wanted to have a more controlled narrow beam of light but after testing this product at home I was able to see a great amount of light leakage in between the flash head and the snoot. It's not what I though and was not as advertised. I'll just stick to my DIY snoot. Sorry Mr. Fong.

Comments about Gary Fong LSU-PS Lightsphere Universal PowerSnoot:
This tool can be used to highlight the hair or make a separtion with the background. It can make you photo's stand out from the average photographer who just uses the flash mounted on the camera. I've found that in doing portraits the snoot works best for me at about 6 feet from the subject at about 60 degrees with the camers set at ISO 200 shutter speed 160 aperture f:10. Flash sb800 is set on manuel at 1/4 power. Many wonder how I was able to get the background dark and make the subject standout. I realy like this product. I only wish that my diffuser would fit on the flash with the snoot.
The only thing about taking it along to a wedding or any other event is that it won't collapse.
Maybe Gary Fong is working on a collapsible model like his collapsible lightsphere, That would make it a real hit when on the go.

It really does give you shots just like on his video.
I found working in ettl at close ups I had to reduce the exposure to -1.5 to keep from having blowen highlights
I wish the outside of it was black. The chrome looks dumb

Best used in manual mode and not TTL.
Although I was kind of expecting some instructions, you really don't get them when you buy an umbrella or soft box? So can't really complain about that.
Didn't like that the shinny silver finish is kind of peeling off right out of the box. (so far.... it's only the outside strap part which doesn't effect the source of light)
I believe it should have came with more than one grid. Giving the option to have a narrow spot. of course you can use some black tape but I bought this to avoid the DIY project.
It's a good product for a strobes overall just listing the drawbacks of why it didn't get five stars from me.

Comments about Gary Fong LSU-PS Lightsphere Universal PowerSnoot:
I recently became aware of what snoots can do for low-key lighting and portraits. I haven't had a chance to really put this Powersnoot through its paces, but what I have done I have been very happy with. I have discovered that this snoot is quite versatile in the way it can be positioned. I've placed it on the floor, on desks, not to mention the standard light stands. It's produced pretty amazing results, so far.
My only real gripe is the price. For what you pay, the materials seem to be a bit cheap. But the results are definitely not that.
