The N120 Series N120-13GBL Netbook Computer from Samsung is a compact mini notebook computer, perfect for mobile use. Boasting a glossy 10.1" LED backlit widescreen display and robust stereo sound, the 2.8-pound system is a fine provider of mobile entertainment. The 97% size keyboard and large touch pad conquer the ergonomic hurdles that often scuttle the usability of compact netbook computers.
The Intel Atom CPU balances performance and power consumption, helping the computer to realize an impressive 9 hours of runtime per charge. Integrated 802.11g Wi-Fi allows you to get online at hotspots, and the Bluetooth 2.0+EDR module communicates with wireless peripherals. The 160GB 5400rpm hard drive provides ample storage space for media, documents, and other files. An integrated camera and microphone allow you to stay in touch with friends and family via web chat.

I looked long and hard for a netbook. I read many reviews and went to several stores to see what there was available at retail stores. Although I was not expecting a fast computer, I did not want anything that would the machine slower. It seems that Windows 7 does just that, so I moved faster to get a netbook with XP. Then the deciding factors came down to a large, good keyboard, battery life of 6 hours or more, price and a decent screen. The Samsung N120 is definitely the right one. When B&H offered the right price, it was a no brainer. With the great keyboard, battery life and fine screen I am very pleased with my purchase. The only problem I have is that my wife wants to use it all of the time. I have 2 small issues that do not make me regret my decision, but are worth a note. Samsung has a backup program that is optional. I took advantage of this. The downside is that it uses part of your disk space for backup so that you end up with about 100GB instead of 160GB. Again, I could have chosen not to do this and done backups different. One other issue that happens only on occasion. I just close the lid when not in use. A couple times when it has hung up when trying to resume the Windows session. I just have to power off and back on to get it working. Power on time is as others have said about 45 seconds. It is very light and easy to carry around. I don't see a need at this point to upgrade the memory. I will probably get an external cd/dvd drive at some point.

Had this computer for not quite a year when the screen started flickering. Called Samsung, and they tried having me do a fix, but that didn't do much to help. Called back and was given a Claim # to send the computer back. admittedly got sidetracked around end of Summer, so when I called back in September to see what to do and where to send this thing, I was informed that my warranty had now expired. I referred to this Claim # I was given, and talked to a supervisor, but to no avail. they would not fix it on their dime. Probably will avoid all Samsumg products from now on. Screen now goes all white soon after turning this thing on. Buying a new computer, NOT a Samsung.

After 3 months of reviewing, comparing & trying various net books, I bought the N120 & the upgrade to 2gb of RAM. I immediately removed pre-installed software I didn't want, installed the security programs I preferred, etc. Ran it for two days before adding the additional RAM-noticeable improvement well worth the few additional $. The N120 has excellent performance for what it is designed to do-email, browsing, some word processing, etc. Excellent wireless performance. Keyboard size is great-I have big, clumsy fingers. I'm not a gamer, so can't comment there. Easily transported. I did add a slimline USB powered external dvd burner which ran with no issues from just one port although it had a two port cable. Battery life is excellent-have run for 8 hours with no problem, although it was somewhat light usage. Make sure you get the 5900 mAh battery as there's a 5200 in some N120's. Display is fine. Although it was originally purchased strictly for travel use, it has replaced my laptop. IMHO, it's the best net book on the market & I would readily buy it again.

No issues so far.
It's a pity that it doesn't come with Windows 7.
This great looking notebook could be a little faster as well and 64bit.
Well, it would be another price as well, right?!

The netbook has plenty of battery life. It is easy to use and set-up. I bought additional RAM (2GB) and have had no difficulties downloading additional programs and running them. So far it has been great to use. It was a great value also.

This is what my wife wanted for Christmas-something to get on the 'net, get e mails, and have a web cam in a little package that would fit in a purse. this one does it, but so do many. What sets this unit apart for her (and it is far and away the best) is the excellent speaker system and sound of any of the "little guys." Another well known brand actually had a speaker on the bottom and you could barely hear it. this net book has double speakers on either side of the screen and is the only one that does. the clincher is a battery life rated as one of the absolute longest of the netbooks.
What don't I like about it? Nothing different from any of the other netbooks. Just keep in mind that these are NOT the types of machines that you would run as an example the full-blown PhotoShop or any GIS programs. They're a cool little web accesser and e mail accessor and this one is one of the coolest.

I bought this netbook for traveling. It's great for checking email, surfing the web and playing games on the road. The size is awesome. It's extremely light weight and has a very long life battery (~8 hours). If you're looking for a netbook with quality sound, I would suggest you purchase external speakers. The internal sound is rather 'tinny' and is not very loud. This netbook would be excellent for young folks, teenagers and seniors who desire a way to use the internet for basic functioning. The price is very competitive!

Pros: Like the color. Functional. I am a high-end user who values mobility. I run complex statistical models, and while this machine is obviously slower than a desktop, it can run MPLUS, Stata, SAS, SPSS, and a variety of other packages. Webcam is awesome.
Cons: Touchpad is not sensitive. Unresponsive to selecting and dragging.
