The Benro A-158EX Tripod Legs are a sensible choice in a no-nonsense tripod for those just wanting good support, speedy use, and compact folded dimensions (19" in this case). This isn't a tripod for doing a lot of extremely-low-height shooting or pointing towards the ground or directly underneath the tripod; it is just a solid 4-section 'flip lock' aluminum model, with enough of the creature comforts to make a vacation a little more pleasant. The A-158EX has 24mm diameter upper leg segments and provides a 'working height' of 50.8", meaning that it can comfortably support an SLR at a height that won't hurt your back even if you leave the column fully collapsed.
The A-158EX is officially rated to support 13.2 lbs (6kg), and Benro recommends it for SLRs with lenses of up to 200mm focal length.
The A-158EX's flip-lever leg locks are of the newest technology, and provide reliable and fast use with just a small motion necessary. Benro also has developed a rigid aluminum tubing that's just 1.2mm thick, which along with the extensive use of magnesium in the castings allows this tripod to weigh only 3.4 lbs (1.6kg).

Comments about Benro A-158EX Aluminum Tripod Legs:
I really like the locking legs and how it shortens up to fit inside my camera pack. It is lightweight, but will hold my 7D with a EF 28-300mm attached without any issues.

Comments about Benro A-158EX Aluminum Tripod Legs:
This is exactly what I wanted. I have a heavy duty tripod but seldom take it with me because it's, well, HEAVY. This Benro unit will get a lot of travel time. I like to take flower pictures and close-ups of small creatures and this fits the bill by being light, easy to move and set up, and well made.
If I could change anything I would make the initial leg spread a few more degrees to get over the feeling that it might tip over with a DLSR and a heavy lens set to any angle that is not centered over the tripod.

Comments about Benro A-158EX Aluminum Tripod Legs:
I was shocked at how solid and well made this tripod seemed when it showed up at my door. Probably the best of it's kind in the price range!
