The Benro MA-98EX Monopod is their largest professional aluminum model, officially supporting gear of up to 55 lb (25kg) and recommended for any SLR camera with any telephoto lens such as a 600mm f/4 or 400mm f/2.8. It has a foam-padded grip with a built-in wrist strap, and enough height to get above the average eye level of most shooters.
The MA-98EX's flip-lever leg locks are of the newest technology, and provide reliable and fast use with just a small motion necessary. Benro also has developed an aluminum tubing which is quite thin yet still strong, and this shaves about 30% off of the weight of a comparable older-technology model. The camera screw is reversible for both 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 applications.

The best thing about this monopod is that it is small when folded but very high when extended. I am more than 6 feet tall and work with this monopod is just great

Comments about Benro MA-98EX Aluminum Monopod:
I will say it over and over. This is a great value. Very small, collapses and extends easily. Too tall for me at 6'2" at the highest point. Strong, light weight, good quality.

Comments about Benro MA-98EX Aluminum Monopod:
I have used this monopod to photograph my daughter playing lacrosse and soccer. It has made a marked difference in the quality of the pictures I was getting, better focus, less blurrrr!
To be honest, I haven't had a chance to use it on more than 3 or 4 times, but I cannot, at this point find a thing that I dislike about it.
It is lightweight, very easy to handle and a pleasure to use. I wish I had purchased one sooner.

Comments about Benro MA-98EX Aluminum Monopod:
Right off I will say it is a 4star ONLY because it is on the heavy side vs carbon fiber. That said, it is a great great monopod. Legs lock solid. I felt I could put my full body weight on top of it and they would stay extended just as they were when they were set. I need to get a ball/swivel head for it but I used it by attaching the camera to the top fastener and it worked great as it was. If you are looking for a solid workhorse, this is it. For the price, I found it to be a great buy. you won't be disappointed. If you are going to be using it on long hikes over miles of trails and weight is a big issue, go carbon. Some lamented the lack of a spike at the bottom. I didn't find this to be an issue but it is a consideration if you think you need one. This will be with me for years to come and Iwould recommend it to anyone
