I don't use this product with the strap it is meant for. I have used a clove hitch knot to connect them to the strap that came with my Nikon D300s.
The reason I went for this connector is that i wanted a way to easily, and quickly, remove the strap. This product is sturdy and locks well. It is made to be removed often.
So far, I am happy with this product, even though it does mean my strap is a little shorter due to the clove hitch knots I used to attach the connector to the strap

I purchased this as an upgrade to an older Black Rapid strap. I looked around and found spare parts and even a complete strap system at very competitive pricing. [...]

I have the original straps, that only used a small plastic sleeve to cover the gate of this connector. This is solid and gives piece of mind when dangling thousands of dollars from it. A MUST HAVE ITEM!!

This seems much stronger than the original R-Strap connector. I feel more more confident that my camera is safe on the R-strap

I used this to mount things on my belt. The loop was too small, so I had to use another strap. It worked fine, no problems. It is built well.

I bought this not as a replacement for my R-Strap, but to use it by itself in a self made tether for my camera to my body armor as I am deployed in Afghanistan as a combat photographer. I love my R-Strap, and this small locking carabiner is exactly what I needed to hold my camera, but I didnt want to take apart my R-Strap to use it. I was using another small cheap carabiner, but it wasnt doing a good enough job and I dropped the camera a few time. I dont have that problem with this item.
The only gripe I have is that the locking collar on this is smooth and the one that came with my R-Strap had a textured checkering for better grip with locking and unlocking. The smooth collar isn't ideal, but otherwise it performs exactly as I hoped it would

I bought the CameraSlingers DOUBLE CAMERA STRAP, which I think is better than black rapids. But the CameraSlingers DOUBLE CAMERA STRAP doesn't come with locking clips. So I bought this and just replaced mine. A must-have upgrade.

I needed a second strap, so I bought this and the FastenR-3 and then went to REI for a long loop of webbing with a couple of cam locks. It works great as a backup/2nd camera strap.

I have the original black rapid strap with the old connector. this new connector with the abiltiy to screw it closed is perfect. It's nice to know my gear won't fall off and hit the ground.

I use this in conjunction with a Black Rapid FastenR3 and an old but usable nylon camera strap to make my own low-profile DIY sling. I really like how it easily pivots, no stiction at all. Although I found this product a little overpriced but I guess you get what you pay for.

Comments about BlackRapid ConnectR-2:
I was glad i got the Connect-2 for my Black Rapid camera strap. The older Connect was cumbersome and difficult to use. The newer model is much easier to pick up the camera during quick shooting situations. And the Connect-2 attaches to the camera quickly for ease of use.

I use it with my OEM strap and attach it to my lens or camera using the FR-3 Fastner. Item works well, the lock screws tight and loose with easy.

I have the original black rapid strap and it came with a flip-lever quick release. This screw-gate, carabiner style connector is much more secure and give a photographer with expensive equipment much more peace of mind.
