The BlackRapid RS DR-1 Double Strap (Black) is worn around the shoulders and is adjustable to fit most photographers. It will carry 2 cameras or lenses vertically at the side. The locking FastenR connects the straps to the tripod socket located on either the camera body or the lens. Once connected, the cameras hang upside down, resting securely at the side.
The difference between Black Rapid's DR-1 and DR-2 is that the DR-1 is for larger framed people while the DR-2 is for smaller framed people. The DR-2 is narrower across the shoulders.

I've used this for carrying two cameras around, or took it apart and also used it as a single strap. It works extraordinarily well for what it is intended for, street and event photography. This product is built with a very specific photographer in mind, it is the best strap you can own. With that said, here's when you wouldn't want to use the strap.
-With regular tripod use you have to unscrew the strap
-If you have to hand off your camera regularly there is no quick way to do it.
-If you like to shoot in portrait orientation it gets awkward (especially without a grip)
-If you need both hands free AND will be making sudden movements (running, jumping, leaning over, climbing, etc).
-If you want to use a backback, slingbag, or any other bag with similar harnesses it will get in the way (I use a Think Tank Photo belt system with good results though)
With proper use your cameras won't bounce around much while moving, but I tend to keep a hand on them when I am running or adjusting myself to awkward positions.
The bottom line is if you are a travel or street photographer, and use two cameras, this is the strap for you. For anyone else, it is most likely a very mixed bag.

I really like being able to separate the Double Strap and use just half to carry one camera or unite it to carry two cameras comfortably and securely at my sides. I am able to switch cameras very quickly when necessary.
The only thing I don't like about the Black Rapid Double Strap, and this probably applies to their other straps as well, is that the screw lock carabiner has scratched up the bottom of my 5D mk 2. I believe this occurred when I stored the camera in my bag with the strap attached: the carabiner was pushed up against the bottom of the camera. So, even though I really like the setup, I strongly suggest either unscrewing the fastener from the bottom of the camera each time it is stored (the carabiner doesn't strike the camera when it is dangling at your side) OR taking a narrow strip of black electrical tape and wrapping the fastener and the carabiner.
I would have given these straps five stars had the fasteners and carabiners been sufficiently insulated.

Comments about BlackRapid RS DR-1 Double Strap:
I have a BlackRapid RS-5 for single camera. It works very well. This double rig permits carrying two pro bodies even with large lenses attached. The system balances the gear and keeps it in position for instant use. It is easy to set up. It is easy to get into even with two big Canons and lenses attached. I do not know how I lived without it.

Used this product on a safari in Africa and proved to be an amazing tool..especially when you want to have TWO different camera bodies/lenses at the same time ready to shoot!
The fact that you can use only ONE strap in other cases is a plus!

Comments about BlackRapid RS DR-1 Double Strap:
It's much easier to carry two cameras with the double strap than with two individual straps. My back doesn't feel any strain when carry two cameras. Also I like to be able to pull it apart and use it as a single strap.
I was told by Black Rapid not to store the strap on the camera(s)so my cameras don't get scratched.

i bought this strap at B&H before a senior portrait shoot. It was a great purchase. It allowed me to carry both my 24-70 and 80-200 lenses mounted and ready to shoot. It was too easy to get different shots from each setup throughout the session. I can't wait to test drive this more at a wedding and for event photography.
Well done, Black Rapid.

Used it for the first time last Sunday shooting my son's wedding. I had a D3s with a 24-70 on my right and a D7000 with a 70-200 on my left, both with 900's for flash. I shot for eleven hours straight and danced for an hour after all was said and done. The next day I didn't have any soreness or pain. Next year I'll be seventy, need I say more?

YOU HAVE TO OWN ONE I AM AS EXCITED ABOUT IT AS I AM ABOUT THE 7D. THE STRAP DOES NOT GET IN YOUR WAY, BALANCES THE CAMERA PERFECTLY AND THE CAMERA CAN BE DEPLOYS IN A SPLIT SECOND WITHOUT MOVING POSITION. I KNOW IT IS A "STRAP" BUT THIS IS A GREAT ONE !

Comments about BlackRapid RS DR-1 Double Strap:
The DR1 is a great replacement to the branded cam straps for any DSLR. I chose the DR1 over the other RS straps mainly for the option of carrying 2 cam bodies simultaneously and then disconnecting so I carry 1 if I choose to, having options helps especially if you're looking for the best bang for your buck.
For a wedding or sports event, the DR1 is a great strap as long as you're not hanging an ultra long lens. This is an ergonomic issue for any strap made by any company, you just don't hang a super long lens by your waist, that's what a mono/tripod is for.
Back to the DR1, the pads are well cushioned and not bulky, I like the contoured feel on my shoulder, it's doesn't cut into my neck at all and is rather comfortable even after hours of shooting. I hang two bodies with grips (D300 and D700) on either side with 80-200mm and a 24-70mm respectively. With both hands free, I can fiddle with my flash, swap cards or batteries, or grab a drink.
Since I'm not doing many landscape shots on a tripod, the FasterR mounts stay on the cam.
I did notice that to balance out the weight, I need a cam with a lens on either side. Walking around with most of the weight on one shoulder feels like I'm carrying a shoulder bag, it's a minor comment and doesn't detract from the overall benefits of the DR1.
If I know I will be shooting with just one body, I would just use one strap. This is the best part of the DR1, the fact that you can convert from a two body strap to a one body strap very quickly is very slick.
Very satisfied with this double strap system and would recommend to someone else in the same shooting situations.

Comments about BlackRapid RS DR-1 Double Strap:
Black Rapid makes the best and most useful camera straps. The way the camera hangs hides the camera if you have a jacket on.I was in NYC last week and stopped by B&H. [...] I have two canon bodies and wanted to carry both at the same time. The bodies are heavy, D1's with heavy lenses, 28 to 300 mm. The RS DR-1 Double strap makes it very comfortable to carry this weight. And of course the cameras are immeadiately available.

Comments about BlackRapid RS DR-1 Double Strap:
I've never been more comfortable carrying two cameras and having room for binoculars around my neck hanging down on my chest. The setup works fine!
Even though a 100-400 zoom adds extra weight on one side I'm not bothered at all by the slight unbalance.
I love it and wish I had gotten it sooner!

Comments about BlackRapid RS DR-1 Double Strap:
This is very recommended for event photographers because the double strap shifts the cameras' weight far from the neck to the shoulders in an equal way and keeps you straight and not kneeling down. If you need to carry two cameras and heavy good lenses for many hours, this product changed my life. Now, after 8 hours of work each day, I don't have the pain I used to have before. My only problem is with the position of the camera on my left side that needs to be swiveled before use, but one can get used to it after 2-3 days of work.
I don't know how i worked without it before.

I'm a professional photographer. Routinely I have to carry 2 heavy, full frame camera bodies and even heavier L series lenses. This system distributed the weight so that they were actuallly comfortable to carry. The cameras rode at my hips within easy reach.

Comments about BlackRapid RS DR-1 Double Strap:
This strap works great. Using two camera as Wedding photographer. Using two heavy camera bodies with lenses attached. The strap makes it feel very balanced and spreads the weight over two shoulders, making it feel much lighter than it normally feels when hanging the camera around your neck. It cannot be used with only one camera as it tends to feel unbalanced.
Wish I bought it long ago...

It was nice to have both of my DSLR cameras available for immediate use at the same time. My shoulders got a little tired despite claims to the contrary. However, it was MUCH more comfortable than a strap(s) around my neck.
