The VH242H 23.6" Widescreen LCD Computer Display from ASUS is a flat-panel monitor featuring a thin-frame design, perfectly suited for home entertainment and business use alike. The display delivers a wide 170°/160° viewing angle, a 1920 x 1080 native resolution, a high 20,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, and a fast 5ms response time.
The display is housed in an attractive black casing and sits on an attractive stand. It features VGA, DVI, and HDMI video input. Its 16:9 aspect ratio is perfectly suited for HD video, as it can display a 1080p source at native resolution. I added this to a high-end NEC. It far brighter and more pleasant to work with for a vast majority of my document and desktop tasks. I still go to the NEC for color correction and accuracy for print but the ASUS is an amazing screen for the money. Will probably get another. The lack of stand height/tilt options is odd. It's a basic plastic disk for a foot. Will end up mounting to a dual-screen arm anyway.

Very happy with performance. I have it set up with DVI connection and might get HDMI cable but I doubt will change much. the problem is the controls are difficult to use, ie for changing brightness etc. Standard settings out of the box are WAY too bright. Because of light coming from the screen it is almost impossible to see the symbols or the buttons unless I have a flashlight in my right hand and work the controls with my left while shielding my eyes from the screen with a piece of paper or cardboard. This is a pain and saving settings also difficult.

This is a great monitor so much in fact that I bought a second one to have a dual monitor setup. It has a vivid display and very stylish base. I love that it supports HDMI so thats a added bonus. The only thing I dislike is how when using the button to switch the video (HDMI,DVI,VGA) if it does not detect anything on that input it will change to next available video. Not a big deal but sometimes I work on two computers (one via DVI and one via VGA) and if I restart one of the PC's then it will automatically switch over to the next PC when I prefer it not too. Again not a big deal just a minor little thing that annoys me. Overall I give this monitor a 5 and would recommend to anyone.

I thought it would be good for work. Multiple open pages- not. Pages are all wide. If you narrow, you lose part of the page. Pages show up too light as well. Changed resolution to try, but only small amount. Very frustrated and wish I had my 16" back.

I do alot of video work and the wide screen enables me to make adjustment and still have decent display. The video and pictures are very good. Having DVI, VGA and HDMI allows me many options. Hookup is simple, cables supplied except HDMI. I enjoy watching video I took in AVCHD, I couldn't be happier with the pictures. I haven't tried blu-ray yet. Just installed blu-ray burner today. I only had the Asus VH242H monitor for 2 weeks but so far its been great. The only thing I would prefer would be better buttons. The buttons are very awkward.
