I bought this player for the kids. We have a collection of DVDs with both European and US origin. It plays all DVDs I've tested without problems. Image quality is good. Sound is ok, though the use of the internal speakers is not really an option when flying or driving. It has two headset outlets. The swivel mount for the screen is great. As a player, this unit probably deserved 5 stars. However, there are some construction issues that made me drop 1 star. First, the navigation button is tiny; you press the edges to navigate menus left/right + up/down and press the middle of the button to select. However, because its so small I often end up pressing Select when the intention was to mode around. This causes me to have to return to the menu and wastes time (and is annoying). Second, the battery is separate from the player. It attaches to the bottom of the player and as such adds to the thickness of the entire unit by about 6-7 mm. The battery easily detaches and this happens frequently to me if the player is stuffed inside a backpack. Third, the lid (i.e. the screen) doesnt have a lock, i.e. it doesnt snap in place when closed, sometimes caused the lid to open when moving the player around. Overall, its a player I can recommend for anyone looking for a multi-region player. If you dont need this feature, you could probably get something better for the money (or pay less for something as good).

We have been looking for a multi-region portable DVD player for a while and as they are usually a lot pricier than a regular portable DVD player, we took our time to research into it before deciding to get this particular Sony one. So far, we have used it a couple of times, both at home, and in the car (for our 2 year old who gets bored after a while), and it has been everything we expected it to be. The player not only plays multi-region DVDs (yes, we tried some) but can also be used in the countries we need it to: 110 - 240v 50/60 Hz Power Supply, UK and USA. The controls are easy to use, the picture and sound quality are excellent!! The battery life is adequate for our travel time. We have not really properly timed how long it lasted but I would say approximately 5 hours. We loved that it came with a car adapter for charging on the go. We also love the hold button which means our toddler will not be able to fiddle with it (yet). The swivel and flip screen worked like a charm and gave the player many options in the way it can be placed.

It is not as lightweight as we hoped it would. The player looked quite slim on its own but it came with a battery pack which did add quite a lot of bulk to it once it attached it to the player.

The car attachment which came free with it was not okay but not brilliant. It had two wide elastic straps on each end and you can slip the DVD player into it. The whole thing can then be buckled in to the head rest of the seat in front. However the elastic straps, when in place will block off a good portion of the screen on each side, and also if not horizontally aligned, the player can slide out and fall to the ground. It happened once when our toddler in her excitement kicked the player and the whole set-up tilted to one side and the player slid out.

All in all, we love this multi-region DVD player and would highly recommend it. Do invest in a good case to store it in as it does not come with one.

I was looking for a 9" portable DVD player that can play all DVD regions. I found many potential players on the internet that are advertised as multi-region in some sites, but are contradicted either in other sites, or by user reviews. This Sony DVP-FX930E is the only one with a 9" screen that looks like the real deal, and it works as advertised! I am really glad I bought it. The picture quality is also excellent.
