The Ooma Telo VoIP Phone System provides clear voice over IP (VoIP) phone service through your broadband Internet service. The unit comes with lifetime free nation-wide calling and cheap international rates, eliminating pricey phone bills (see note below). The Telo improves on the original ooma Hub's design, with a USB port for future expansion, support for ooma Telo handsets, and with an online phonebook.
The Telo uses large, intuitive buttons to control basic functions like changing lines, retrieving voicemail, and send-to-voicemail. With the Ooma service, your voicemail is stored online and can be retrieved from anywhere. Management is handled easily through your web browser, letting you view a call log, block unwanted numbers, purchase pre-paid international calling minutes, and find quick support for problems.
Note! Pay only applicable taxes and fees. Unlimited Calls are subject to normal residential usage. Visit www.ooma.com/termsandconditions for details

FREE!!! Free phone service for the life of the product is too good to be true, but it is true. The installation was pretty straight forward and the features were above and beyond my expectations. Right now we are waiting for the phone number to be fully ported. We are using the system and it is fine... I am pretty happy with it. A side from all the extra features, I like it because it works with just the hi-speed and phone jack, not a PC.. This is cool because it is only dependent on the hi-speed which reduces the risk of outages and I don't need a dedicated PC for it to work. I am a very happy customer.

I owned my Ooma for 15 months (3 months past the warranty). Until this week, it was terrific. Clear and reliable. This week it quit working and after 3 days of trouble-shooting with Ooma technical support, they determined that the software was corrupt. I figured that they'd take it back, work their magic, charge me a hefty fee and I'd be back in business. Boy was I wrong. They will not fix it but if I buy another $200 telo, they will let me keep my phone number. Ooma has a great idea but their support and durability are absent. If you know you'll only get a year or so out of the hardware, then you shouldn't complain. I thought I was buying hardware for 5-10 years of use, so it was a no-brainer at the time. I am very careful with all of my electronic hardware. I did nothing to contribute to the Ooma failure. Ooma support admitted that they have no idea why it crashed. Buyer Beware!!!!

Moved to a new office on a temporary basis. The "regular" phone company charges a small fortune to move your service, and I had bad experience with using VOIP from the nationally known $25/month company. Although the entry price is not the cheapest, I decided to give ooma a chance based on the excellent reviews I read.
Setup was easy and the sound quality is good, so that's the most important thing I would ask for. Don't believe it's "free" after you buy it. In NJ, the taxes are $4 a month (admittedly, not a big deal), and if you want the advanced voice mail features (which are far superior to what the phone company gives you) expect to pay more. I bought the Premiere plan, so when I get a phone message in my office, it sends me an email with the vaoice attached as an MP3, which works just fine on my iPhone.
I bought the ooma handset directly from ooma and am not impressed with the sound quality. With the handset, handset base tall within two feet of each other, I've had calls just break apart. For example, I was on a call for about fifteen minutes, then the voice began to deteriorate to the point I had to hang up and re-call. I'm on Optimum on-line with boost, which is very fast, there's no reason to not have the bandwidth for a voice signal.
One problem: Too many menu's to get your voice mail. It takes a full minute to call in, wait for the 4-5 rings for it to answer, press star, then navigate through 3 menu layers. The phone company has an alternative number you dial in to get your voice mails, which is much quicker. Still, getting the voice mail to my cell phone as an mp3 is good compensation for that problem.

The sound of the audio is really great on cable broadband. Setup is simple. [...] Phone number porting looks like it is going to be right under two weeks. Wish I would have switched to Ooma sooner....

Comments about Ooma Telo VoIP Phone System:
Many people have mentioned this issue. I could not connect to the service after installing Ooma first then the router after it as shown in the instructions. You must connect router to the wall then Ooma to the router. Now all is well and Ooma is excellent. Same voice quality and connection reliability as a phone company. Very happy with the money I am saving too!

Comments about Ooma Telo VoIP Phone System:
still haven't tried to fax yet,but that is an important feature.the instructions say that you have to dial *99 before your fax #;I think that this is due to the voice mail feature. works O.K. when plugged in to a router as long as your not downloading anything. would prioritize calls better if installed between the modem and the router.you might have to pay monthly phone tax(mine is only $3.47 per month)overall- a great product for the money. I won,t miss my phone bill-ever........
