The Canon PIXMA MP640 Wireless All-in-One Printer provides maximum resolutions up 9600 x 2400dpi yielding photos and documents displaying crisp text and great color detail in enlargements. This printer can output a 4 x 6" borderless photo in approximately 20 seconds.
The MP640 has built-in Wi-Fi capability to enable wireless printing from various locations and a built-in Ethernet interface enables users to create a wired network. This all-in-one is equipped for computer-free printing with built-in memory card readers, PictBridge for printing directly from a compatible digital camera, a high-speed USB port to accommodate compatible USB flash drives, and optional Bluetooth devices.
The MP640 uses 5 individual Canon ChromaLife 100+ ink tanks with four dye-based (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black) inks and a pigment black ink which is STRICTLY used for document printing to save money by not draining color while printing black. Additionally, you will also save money because you only need to replace cartridges as they are depleted.
Images are easily previewed, selected and edited via the Pixma MP640's 3" Color LCD display. With built-in automatic duplex printing users can open creative channels by printing on both sides of the paper and can help reduce paper costs by 50%. Plus with Auto Photo Fix II, images are automatically corrected for optimal exposures.

I use this as an every day printer - I'm a student and artist. I haven't used the photo printing yet. it was sooooo-o easy to set up. The design is compact, easy, user friendly - top marks to Canon for that alone. Wireless install with 2 mac laptops, excellent, easy (10.4 and 10.5). I copied a color artwork for a sample - very good, maybe a little pale but I didn't trouble shoot that for a better result. It was good enough on ordinary paper. I know Canon do NOT recommend card stock, but I tried 110 lb card stock for a color copy, and it was fine. I set it for high quality. It took about 90 seconds maybe for an 8x11 sheet to go through, so maybe not for long runs, and the color was a bit off, but it did run through ok. Whether that kind of thing eats up ink, I don't know.I love this printer already. Scanning worked well. For an all rounder it is great. for [$] I think it's great. The footprint is not huge - I have it on top of a filing cabinet. I tested it wirelessly from 2 rooms away, fine.Nothing negative to say yet!

This a great machine. Print quality is very, very good for photos. The main advantage is the ability to have 2 paper sources - regular in front and photo paper in the rear feeder. I couldn't ask for more at [$]

Comments about Canon Pixma MP640 Wireless Photo All-In-One Printer:
I am a moderate user: text printing, photos, scanning photos for use on Elements. Am finding the Pixma 640 easy to use on all counts. Also, it was easy to set up -- important to me, since I am no tech wizard! I also like the dual paper trays.
Photo color and crispness are both good, as is text. If you need a good AOI printer, this could well be the one for you.

Comments about Canon Pixma MP640 Wireless Photo All-In-One Printer:
This replaced a 4 year old Canon that finally had a nozzle print head issue. But, as with most of these printers, the hardware is so inexpensive, it makes no sense to repair it, as I only spent [$] to buy this new one! I use it as a hardwired family network printer and we absolutely love it! The printing is clean and fast, with construction well thought out to keep dust out of the critical areas. Sharp looking and sharp printing. I have not used it enough yet to change out the ink tanks, but the tanks that came with the printer seemed to be filled to last. Very impressed overall, as usual for Canon products and B&H purchasing.

Great product, got it quickly and it set up easily, the wireless set up was a bit tricky for a novice like myself but it worked out ok and it was great to print from my laptop in another room. The quality and ease of use of the printer is excellent, its functionality with scanner and copier is very good. I'm very pleased with this product and I would recommend it. I use it as a home business printer and its works well for this purpose.

After purchasing an HP all in one and ending up with a lemon that did nothing, I risked purchasing another photo printer. After hearing and reading many recommendations, I got the Canon. It was very straightforward to set up and worked without a glitch immediately. I would definitely recommend this printer. The print and scan speed is great and the photos are fabulous.

Comments about Canon Pixma MP640 Wireless Photo All-In-One Printer:
This printer works really well in the sense that it delivers what you ask it to; however, the print time is a bit slow. This is a great printer for any user at home. I like the scanning feature in which it scans everything on the glass and divides them into different files. For an example you have four photos you want to scan in to save time instead of scanning in one by one, the printer will divide the image into four cropped files. Print quality is great. Scanning quality is also great. I highly recommend this printer.
