This is a very nice zoom lens for the price. I sold an EF 28-135USM to pay for part of it, and it was a trade well worth making. The lens is very sharp in the center and not too bad on the edges (more than a few times I've had to look at my file info to make sure the photo was shot on this lens and not a prime). It's a great zoom range, no lens creep, and the IS has been surprisingly good. The image quality is very good and I have no trouble selling the pictures I take with it.
It does vignette more than other lenses I've owned, but I shoot a lot of people shots, so this actually saves me time from having to burn in my edges and corners as much.
I read all the reviews I could before I bought this, and while the complaints about the vignetting and the softness in the corners are technically true, so what. It's a great lens for shooting fast and shooting a lot (parties, events, etc.) which is what I mostly do. Don't frame people all the way to the edge when taking group shots and stop down if you do. If you're concerned about that, pack a couple of primes for the critical stuff and you're good to go. The autofocus is fast and as reliable as anything else I've shot and I don't think there's another lens in this price range as good.

My results with the 18-135 are the similar as in the reviews of the Canon 18-135mm at, [@]. BTW [@] the only one I'm of aware that do their lens tests on the lens itself -- not images taken with a camera. My overall rating of JPEG images out of the camera (T2i) is 2.5 due to the lens is quite soft at the edges of the image, noticeable light fall-off at the corners with max apertures, and distortion at 18mm.You can get good (3.5 - 4.0) images providing that you:• Have enough light to use f/8 ~ f/11. Lens is quite soft at the edges of the image, and noticeable light fall-off at the corners with max apertures.• Shoot RAW to get the best results of removing CA and purple/blue color fringing.• Will need to PP to reduce the 18mm wide angle distortion.• It is quite sharp in the center.• The IS works quite well, though according [@] its around 3-stops, not the 4-stops as Canon specs.WOULD recommend ONLY with above caveats, and to buy as the "Kit" lens or the "White Box" version.

Comments about Canon EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Lens:
I agreed to shoot a wedding and needed this lens. No one local had it in stock, and it turned out to be a blessing. B&H had it for $150 less. It arrived 2 days before the wedding and I got some amazing shots of the bride and groom's special day. The clarity of the shots are spectacular. It has great range and made my job as the wedding photographer so much easier. I would definitely recommend this lens!

Prefect all purpose lens. Great for wide angle and zoom. Had 17 to 85 and was not enough zoom for across a medium size room. the 135 zoom is perfect. Same size a weight as other small zooms.

Excellent zoom range if you want to travel with only one lens. Sure it's not an L, but the quality is good enough to get started and the zoom range is fantastic.

I've owned a DSLR for only about 6 months; it is a Canon EOS D1000. I used the kit lens (18-55mm IS) to take hundreds of photos and found that it was a substantial improvement over my point and shoot camera. But over time I saw that I was a bit limited in what I could do which led me to purchase the 18 - 135mm lens. I feel that it is a very nice upgrade to the kit lens. The pictures just seem to be be sharper; the extra zoom capability is handy too. This will definitely be my main lens. I may just sell my kit lens because I don't see why I would go back to it.

I use my camera for general, non-professional photos. The image stabilization is a must for me due to tremors.
This lense is easy to install and use. I am extremely pleased and have found no negatives with either the lense or B&H Photo.

Comments about Canon EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Lens:
In full disclosure I am a very new DSLR user (Canon EOS XS/D1000). I've taken about 1,500 pictures since the summer with my kit lens 18 - 55mm IS. Compared to what I had before I was quite pleased with the results. The more I played with it though I found that I was limited in what I could do. This lead me to purchase the EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Lens. My hope was that I would get more zoom and some other improvements; the reviews showed that the glass was a bit nicer in this lens compared to that of the kit lens. I've taken about 100 or so shots with it so far and I have to say I am quite satisfied. It's met my expectations; this will be my all purpose lens going forward.

I've used it for landscape photography, video, pretty much for anything between the range of 18 and 35mm on my 7d.
The best thing about this lens is it's AF skills.. Pictures are always on focus. Focused, but not sharp. You get lots of distortion.. dark corners, etc... If you ever use it to shoot video, you'll hate it.
Comparing to nikon, Canon kit lenses are no good. And I don[t even use it with protection filters.
And the worst part is that you wont be able to sell it once you know how bad it is... cause, it sells a lot cheaper when you buy it with the camera.

A great wide range lens, starting at a decent wide angle to a satisfying zoom range.
Been thinking a lot before buying this lens, and a after trying a few other options, that was the best choice I made.
Thanks to the staff members that were very helpfull and patient (I've been there for about an hour!), finally made the purchase and I'm real happy with it.

I always read the bad reviews first and thought I might be taking a chance with this lens. I love it, I can take pictures or video while moving and the IS does a great job. The low light performance is very good and I got some macro shots I did not think were possible from a lens like this.
