The PMX402M from Pyle-Pro is the combination of a mixer and a power amplifier with a convenient USB 2.0 input. You can plug multiple sound sources into it (such as microphones, instruments, music players, hard drives, and flash drives), and the PMX402M will amplify them with its 400 watt power amplifier. With the addition of a pair of passive PA speakers, the PMX402M makes for a nice PA for musicians, small clubs, and any situation that requires a small sound system. The inclusion of the USB 2.0 input and LCD display makes it easy to play sound files from external storage devices.
The rear of the PMX402M features 1/4" output jacks to connect passive PA speakers. The stereo RCA outputs can be used to connect to a recording device, or you can send your mix to another amplifier or a powered speaker. Each channel on the PMX402M has its own volume and EQ controls, and a 5-band graphic equalizer is included on the master output. A built-in effects processor is included, and each channel has its own effect level knob. The PMX402M is a budget-friendly option for anyone in need of a powered mixer with USB connectivity for their PA system.

Comments about Pyle Pro PMX402M - 400 Watt 4-Channel Powered PA Mixer/Amplifier:
Our club needed a simple, inexpensive, powerful PA amp for making announcements at outdoor events. After looking at the specs and price for this model, we decided to give it a shot.
I connected it to a pair of new Peavey PR 10 speakers connected effectively in parallel. Using the 1/8" input, sound quality was great on a variety of music - the exception being that it seems to struggle to reproduce solo piano recordings without them sounding overdriven/clipped/distorted, no matter how quietly they're playing. It's odd because everything else it reproduces - voices, drums, brass, etc., are all extremely clear. It is definitely not cheating on power output, but they've saved a lot of money on the mixer section. Sadly I'm not sure if using the Tape Input via RCA would be any better.
In any event, it will work brilliantly for what we want - use with microphones and some light background music to cover an outdoor area about 200' wide by 100' deep and cut through ambient noise of portable generators, etc.
Note that the USB input isn't for iPods, but for something like a USB hard drive or thumb drive with folders containing MP3 files. If you're using an iPod, use a 1/8" cable. Also remember that it is straight mono, and while it has two 1/4" output jacks, there is no stereo capability.

Comments about Pyle Pro PMX402M - 400 Watt 4-Channel Powered PA Mixer/Amplifier:
I purchased this unit new. After about 10 minutes of operation the sound cut out, then came back on but was totally distorted, constantly cutting in and out. AFter testing different cables, 3 keyboards, and 2 speakers, the problem was with the unit. The distributor told me to contact the mfg, which I did and so far they (mfgr) would NOT refund it. Only fix it. VERY RUDE CSR!!! I am awaiting email from the mfgr.

Comments about Pyle Pro PMX402M - 400 Watt 4-Channel Powered PA Mixer/Amplifier:
This pushed two 8 ohm monitors with no problem. We used the RCA input for an ipod connection and a 1/4" input for a karaoke machine. You can also connect a USB flash drive and pull music from there, but it appears the songs must be .mp3, not mp4, and it won't read an ipod through the USB connection, just a flash drive.

Comments about Pyle Pro PMX402M - 400 Watt 4-Channel Powered PA Mixer/Amplifier:
I use the PMX402M in my practice room. It powers four mics through two 8 ohm speaker columns containing six eight inch speakers each. Once or twice a week some friends and I gather to jam and play the old stuff we used to do. I set the volumes, tones, equalizer and effects once and it works beautifully.

Comments about Pyle Pro PMX402M - 400 Watt 4-Channel Powered PA Mixer/Amplifier:
Good amp, works well and does exactly what it was advertised to do. It wont blow away a room of 500 people but that's not what its meant for.
Cons: The manual is a bit sparse, but luckily there isn't much to figure out.

Comments about Pyle Pro PMX402M - 400 Watt 4-Channel Powered PA Mixer/Amplifier:
For the price, this is a good value. I have had it a week, and have only tested it. Sound is fine for general PA work. Includes MP3 player. To keep the price point, the manufacturer used inexpensive connectors -- for example the XLR3 female balanced mic inputs lack a spring latch lock.
