The Canon EOS 7D boasts the latest high performance photo and video imaging capabilities for professionals and discerning image makers alike. An 18 megapixel APS-C format CMOS sensor coupled with Dual DIGIC 4 Image Processors enables fast, 8 frames per second shooting and expanded ISO 100-12800 sensitivity without compromising quality. True 1080p HD video can be recorded at either 24 or 30 frames per second for a smooth, cinematic effect. 720p and SD video are captured at either 50 or 60 frames per second, offering a superior method to capture motion. An integrated mono microphone records spontaneous audio with video, while a 3.5mm stereo input offers higher quality options for professional applications.

The 7D's all new, all cross-type, 19 point autofocus system features 5 user-selectable focusing modes. All focus points can be selected automatically or manually and programmed for priority based on the portrait or landscape orientation of the camera. Canon's latest iFCL (Intelligent Focus Color Luminosity) Metering System utilizes all 19 AF points, 63 zones, and a dual layer color sensor to analyze shooting conditions and optimize exposure.

Large and bright, the EOS 7D's Intelligent Viewfinder offers 100% viewing of the total image area and features a transparent LCD overlay to show user-selected AF points/modes, a spot metering circle, and on-demand grid lines. In addition to the optical viewfinder, Live View mode allows users to compose photos and video on the 3.0", 920,000-dot rear LCD screen. A new Dual Axis Electronic Level provides a reference to adjust the roll and pitch of the camera in 1° increments using the viewfinder or LCD.

Additional features include environmentally sealed magnesium-alloy construction, an integrated sensor cleaning system, 150,000 exposure shutter rating, and wireless TTL control of Canon EX-series Speedlite Flashes. With all this and more, the Canon EOS 7D represents the next generation of professional EOS photo and video imaging.

This kit includes the Canon EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM Lens.

18.0 Megapixel CMOS Sensor and Dual DIGIC 4 Image Processors
The EOS 7D features a Canon-designed 18.0 Megapixel APS-C size CMOS sensor that captures such a high level of resolution it's easy to crop images for enlargement without concern of losing detail. A major factor in reducing noise, the CMOS sensor assures that images shot at highest sensitivity will be remarkably smooth. Dual DIGIC 4 Image Processors ensure that images are captured, processed and saved with remarkable speed. The EOS 7D's ability to capture and process data of images shot at 18.0 Megapixels at 8 fps, as well as Face Detection Live Mode, Full HD video recording, Auto Lighting Optimizer and Lens Peripheral optimization are all possible thanks to the Dual DIGIC 4 Image Processors.
ISO 100-6400 (expandable to 12800)
With a broad range of ISO settings, the EOS 7D enables shooting from dawn through dusk and ensures capture of the finest detail. With enhanced, low-noise high-sensitivity optimization, shooting in situations previously possible only with flash are easier than ever before.
Advanced Movie Mode with Manual Exposure Control and Selectable Frame Rates
The EOS 7D offers the enhanced image quality, smooth frame rates and adaptive exposure compensation necessary in a professional movie-making tool. By shooting video with a large sensor camera, it's simple to take advantage of the image characteristics intrinsic to SLR photography and not necessarily to video cameras.

In addition to a number of different recording size and frame rate modes, the EOS 7D enables easy manual control of exposure, focus and Live View features and even allows for in-camera editing. The large CMOS sensor and compatibility with over 60 lenses provide a wealth of depth-of-field options. And it's all as easy as the press of a button - the EOS 7D has a dedicated Live View/Movie Recording lever with a start/stop button that gets the shooting started fast.

Full HD Video is captured at 1920 x 1080 resolution at 30p (29.97), 24p (23.976) or 25p frames per second, for up to 4GB per clip. Movies are saved as .MOV files and can be viewed in Full HD with HDMI output. Other recording sizes include HD at 1280 x 720 (50p / 60p (59.94) fps) or SD/VGA at 640 x 480 (50p / 60p (59.94) fps).

Intelligent Viewfinder
The EOS 7D features a phenomenal redesigned viewfinder that not only offers 100 percent coverage, 1x magnification, a 29.4° angle of view and user-controlled dioptric adjustment, it also features a newly-designed transparent LCD display which enables a number of viewfinder displays to be overlaid at the touch of a button. Whereas with other cameras the representation of AF points and metering areas are static, with the EOS 7D, they can be displayed, adjusted and hidden, in camera, with ease. This means less distraction and more clarity to view the image in its entirety.

Display options include: grid, spot metering, AF points display, hide all, zone AF, spot (single-point) AF, AF point expansion and Dual Axis Electronic Level display. The EOS 7D also features a brilliant new Dual Axis Electronic Level and tilt display that aids in achieving perfectly level shots, displaying both roll and pitch in 1° increments, either in the viewfinder or on the LCD.

New 19-Point, All Cross-Type AF System
Canon packed its most advanced technologies into the EOS 7D's AF system. With 19 high precision, cross-type AF sensors, any of which can be selected automatically or manually, the EOS 7D is equipped to handle even the trickiest of focus situations with ease. The high-speed microcomputers in the EOS 7D use advanced algorithms that help ensure the fastest, most accurate AF performance under the widest variety of conditions.

In addition, Canon's Light Source detection AF automatically compensates the focus by taking into account artificial lighting sources and making appropriate adjustments and the EOS 7D's new Intelligent Macro focusing tracks the object or the cameras movement when shooting close-up, to ensure focus is never lost. AF modes can be customized to suit the situation, ensuring reliable focus, every time.

iFCL Metering with 63-Zone Dual-Layer Metering Sensor
The EOS 7D features a new, 63-zone dual-layer sensor designed to complement the 19-point AF system. By taking into account the color and luminosity surrounding chosen AF points, this new system delivers an entirely new level of accuracy for better results even in difficult lighting situations.

Since the metering sensor has a color measurement function, exposure errors and focus errors caused by different light sources are minimized; the EOS 7D gives stable exposure from shot to shot in situations where light changes, such as in a theater or concert hall. This makes the EOS 7D ideal for scenes with extreme difference in brightness such as brightly lit scenes or backlit scenes; the camera balances exposure of the main subject at the background, and exposures are not overly influenced by bright areas in the shot.

Rugged, Durable, Dust and Weather Resistant Construction
The EOS 7D is constructed of the highest quality materials, to exacting standards to ensure unfettered performance at all times. For example, the shutter can shoot at speeds up to 1/8000 sec for 150,000 cycles; the chassis is built of lightweight and rigid magnesium, and the camera's seals are built to resist water and dust.

The image quality of this camera is awesome. I have photographed things with an ISO of 1600 and the clarity is awesome with very minimal grain detectable. The speed of the continuous focus is stellar and playing around with its video capabilities has definately made me more interested in seeing what I can produce via film. I normally shoot with all Nikon products, however I am now happy to own both Nikon and Canon equipment.

I just purchased this camera to shoot for my work as a web blogger and as supplementary to my 4x5 camera, which is my main piece of equipment. While the quality is not as good as a Mark II or 4x5, it is a decent piece of equipment for the money. The camera is fast and sharp and good in low light. This kit lens is suitable for detail shots and portrait work---if you are shooting architecture you might want to purchase additional lenses.

Comments about Canon EOS 7D SLR Digital Camera with 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM Lens:

I'm an amateur hobbyist photographer. I bought the 7D to upgrade from my Rebel XS. The camera is everything I have dreamed of for years. I have yet to figure out all of the tips/tricks on this camera, but so far I love it! The image quality is great and having 8 fps is awesome. Only downside would possibly be the manuvering dials are hard to remember which ones go for which options, but not a problem. So worth saving up for 4 months!

I'm from Colombia, and a friend recommend me this site to get the Canon EOS 7D with 28-135 lens.

-I bought this camera mainly for video capture, and is awesome, if you equip with a Canon L Series and a Extreme Pro CompactFlash Card your video quality will increase and becomes amazing.

-The camera menu is very intuitive and has a good printed manual.

-This camera has a strong and compact body which gives a good tact sensation.

Comments about Canon EOS 7D SLR Digital Camera with 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM Lens:

I used to have a film SLR which I adored, but it was collecting dust after I bought a digital point and shoot and realized the convenience of digital cameras. Finally took the plunge and purchased a digital SLR, and now I'm realizing how much I was missing not having the flexibility of an SLR.

The 7D seems like a great place to get started again with SLRs. Not too expensive, but solidly built and has great functionality and image quality. Now I'm working on building up my collection of lenses, avoiding the EF-S series should I pick up a full-frame camera down the line.

Comments about Canon EOS 7D SLR Digital Camera with 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM Lens:

I love this camera for it's speed (8fps) and customization options. I was torn between this and the Nikon d7000. I don't have extensive time with the Nikon but I was sold on the Canon because the grip just felt more natural in my hand and the shutter button is easier to modulate. I have small to average hands and the grip on the d7000 doesn't come close to fitting in my hand. Though the shutter on the 7d sounds louder and more obtrusive than the nikon. The 7d sounds like slapping plastic sheets while the d7000 sounds like a smooth, muffled shuffle. Not a big deal but the first time I shot a military ceremony with the 7d the shutter noise made me very self-conscious. Regarding the shutter button...the 7d has a subtle stop between focusing and shutter release. On the d7000 I found that there was barely any (if at all) feedback in the button to indicate when you're right on the cusp of shutter release...I really didn't like that feeling. Well thats the extent of my review as it relates to the d7000.

From my research I've found the Canon's apparently shoot more neutral and natural colors than other makers and in my experience I've found that to be true. In this day and age people tend to gravitate towards pictures with a nice pop, contrast and saturation. Luckily the 7d allows you to make effective adjustments in these areas and save the settings as a custom user defined preset. Low light performance is also pretty good. Noise will be increasingly more apparent especially above 2000 ISO though even at ISO 6400 you can easily salvage your photos with a quick fix in the included software or whatever noise reduction tool you choose.

I'm not very impressed with the kit lens. It's loud with terrible lens creep and the focus seems quite inconsistent. If I could do it again I'd buy just the camera and get the 24-70mm L lens.

One other very important note. While this camera is loaded with pro-level customization features it's not a full frame camera. If you have any aspirations of taking your photography to the pro-level or at least being serious about it for the long term I'd seriously consider saving a little more money for a full frame camera. Nikon and Canon aren't making premium crop frame lenses. Now I find myself in the dubious situation of trying to figure out which lens to buy. I want to shoot more events and tell stories with my photography but the 1.6x factor on the 7d forces me to buy an extra wide angle lens just to get a moderately wide angle perspective on my 7d. Just something to think about, if I could do it again I'd probably have saved a little more money for the Canon 5d MkII or now the Canon 5d MkIII....maybe even the Nikon d800.

On another note, I don't shoot much video but the HD video on this camera is stunning. All in all I'm very happy with my purchase.

Comments about Canon EOS 7D SLR Digital Camera with 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM Lens:

I have always been into photography, although I've had some periods in my life where I didn't have an SLR. In general, the 7D is not for beginners, but also not just for pro's. Once you start to get used to the menu structure of the 7D, you start to see the unbelievable power of this device. It's amazing!
I spent weeks reading reviews and bouncing back and forth about which body to choose, the other one was the 60D. I am very happy I decided on the 7D.

I also added a 70-200 2.8 L series lens with IS about a week later. This truly makes a huge difference in my shot quality. It's heavy, its expensive but it is amazing!

I upgraded from my 30D. Not much i can say that hasnt already been said. Was a tough choice between this and the 5D Mark II. I went with this because i didnt need full frame and wanted to spend my money on good L-Series lenses.

The time came to upgrade from my older Canon DSLR. Looking at all the option, the 7D was really at the outer ranger of what I could afford. All the reviews and personal suggestions from friends kept leading me back to the 7D. Not a pro, but I love photography and want to keep improving. I have been giving the camera lot of trials, preparing for a trip to the Southwest and I love it. A big step up from my previous camera, but I am enjoying the results and the work to improve my own skills.

I loved this camera and lense but sadly had to return it because new scientific equipment had dictated unbeknownist to me sooner that I had to have full frame sensor capability, so the 1.3 aspect ration just wouldn't cut it in my application. I upped to the 5D MII and sadly found the 7D controls muich more user friendly! These short comings in the MII have now been rectified in the new 5D Mark III... wish I had waited just one more month!

Comments about Canon EOS 7D SLR Digital Camera with 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM Lens:

I had been researching a DSLR for quite a bit trying to decide which camera would suit my needs as a enthusiast who owned a film slr who wanted to updgrade to a camera that was user friendly yet sophisticated enough to allow me to make the transition to a photographer who makes money from taking pictures. I finally settled on the EOS 7D and I am very glad I did. I have had this camera for more than a week and had the opportunity of taking some pictures at the christening of my god son. The pictures were amazing, what was even more amazing I was able to give the camera to my wife to use who had never before used a SLR. She fell in love and did not want to hand it back. This is a very strurdy camera built for a professional but ideal for a enthusiast. Focusing was fast with the Kit Lens which took really sharp pictures. I haven't given it a solid workout yet but I can't wait. The menu is easy to use I really liked the option of using the live view mode being able to sit in a pew and capture a choir without getting up and not worry about focusing and getting everyone in the frame. I haven't found anything I don't like about the camera yet and doubt I will.

This camera will take me through the program and beyond with all of its features. I am very pleased so far, but I have much to learn. It will be a lot of fun learning with this camera.

Comments about Canon EOS 7D SLR Digital Camera with 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM Lens:

This was a decision I took many pains to make. Pony up for the 5D Mark II? Hmm well, if I am going to go crop sensor, and I love making film and documentaries in 1080p why not just save a ton and go 60D or lower (T3i?). Then I saw the package deal, and the rebate at B&H - NO BRAINER!

Amazing price for a BEAST of a camera. Documentary shoots in LA, wandering the subways and streets of NYC in the winter - this camera has superb build quality. The feel is like excalibur.

Speed? Dual Digic 4's are worth the price of admission. NEVER miss that perfect shot! The burst is so high quality and the processing so brisk you would be amazed. The controls, menu layouts, etc - wow. Catch musicians in action, skaters flying - it's effortless. Rich depth, color and look! Highly accurate 19 point AF!!! Don't leave this part out of the equation!

Sure, if you can get the 5D and go full frame, etc - do it! If you want to save a few bucks, ut play at the pro level, this is the real deal. Heck, I have friends who have Reds, 5Ds, etc etc and still love their 7Ds as their #1s for film and photo, esp when they need speed.

If you can slap some amazing glass on your 7D it only gets better. However, the Canon 50mm 1.8 lens is $106 at B&H and will give you gorgeous low light looks for your films.

Great camera. There is a stable of amazing choices out there, including wnoderful comparable Nikons. However, if processing power, speed, versatility, build quality and bacg for the buck are what you want - this is great place to look.

Comments about Canon EOS 7D SLR Digital Camera with 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM Lens:

A fantastic camera loaded with features. I've shot before on the 5D mk II, and comoared to that this autofocuses like a dream. 8 frames per second is really more than fast enough to grab those action shots, and I often find that I can just get by shooting in regular as opposed to high speed burst. The kit lens is fantastic for a non-L series glass, and sharp even on faster apertures.
