The 12MP Kodak EasyShare M381 Digital Camera features an innovative Smart Capture feature which automatically identifies a scene and takes care of focus, flash, and exposure to deliver great picture in just about any environment.
Stylish, compact, and easy to use, the camera features a 12 megapixel image sensor allowing for enlargements up to 30 x 40". It is equipped with a 5x optical zoom lens, and a large, bright 3" LCD screen. The M381 has face detection, blur reduction, and high ISO technologies keeping subjects looking their best.
Powered by a long-life lithium-ion battery, the M381 captures VGA quality motion video with audio, and still images can be viewed in high definition on a HDTV or other HD devices. Built-in multimedia functionality displays your photos on the camera and even has pre-loaded sound themes and creative transitions. The included Kodak EasyShare Software makes sharing content on the Kodak Gallery and YouTube fast and intuitive. Specifically used for personal use. Has somewhere between a 6' to 10' flash reach so you'll have to practice a little to get an idea of optimal lighting but great thing with 4GB cards and higher, you can just go on and keep taking pictures until you determine you have the what you want by monitoring it on the large display. Did lock up on us a couple times but I attribute that to the recording media after reading several forums.

I recently purchased this camera as a Christmas gift for my mom. I was really excited, a lot of the reviewers were talking about the great quality of pictures, ease of use, etc. I picked it out because of a large lcd and pretty simple design. I started shooting some test shots on xmas day, and was shocked by the poor quality of the photos, taken with the flash, all lights on, etc. I could not get even one sharp pic. I shot less expensive cams with MUCH better results. Being a SLR user myself, I did not expect much, but this is the worst dissapointing purchase I've ever made, and am returning it on Monday!
