I have just started with off camera flash and like to experiment with different light colors. I like the gel holder as it is very compact, that it can mount on a flash with velcro and has a holder. I don't like the fact that it is not wide enough for my Canon 580ex II flash. The length is good, but the width is not. You have to find an alternative way of holding it in. However, it works well with my LumoPro 160.
The assortment of colors is amazing and they even include a small card which tells you the name of the color. Brilliant. The downside is that they are a bit flimsy when you try to slip them into the holder. Sometimes it is better to remove the holder and slip it in that way.

Easy to fit - on smaller flashes e.g. 480EX2. Not suitable on Canon 580EX2 since the transparent plastic has a hard time reaching over.

The Rosco filters are a very nice starter set for speedlite users. There are 5-each of the most-used CTB and CTO shades as well as 5 green fluorescent-balance filters. There are also other assorted colors as well as ND filters for playing around with.
I have to say that I did not find the gel holder in this kit to be very useful. I fooled around with it for a while, but found it awkward and ineffective and eventually just used scotch-tape to attach the gel to the flash face. That works perfectly well and I would save a few bucks and get the Rosco set without the holder.
The gels cover the lens portion of the Canon 430's and 580's just fine. The gel fits nicely into the Lumiquest holder. The problem is that the velcro is too close to the gel pocket (The entire holder needs to be slightly longer). The flash housing is wider then the lens, but holder wants to bend right at the place the velcro starts (i.e. right at the edge of lens). The result is the velcro portion of the holder doesn't conform to the housing, causing the holder to "poof up" away from the lens. This lets some light escape un-filtered. The other pocket for holding spare gels in the holder is a cool feature.
The gels are great, but as the bulk of the ticket price of this item is for the holder this is not a good buy. The holder is flimsy and fiddly. I regret buying this.

Picked these up in store at the reccomendation of the sales person. Im glad I did as these work very well with my Vivitar 285's.
They are a little small of the lens but I usually attach them with a little piece of tape instead of the bulky looking holder that came with the kit. The size looks spot on for some of the newer Nikon and Canon stuff though.
