The Sandisk Sansa Clip+ MP3 Player (4GB, Burgundy Red) is a pint-sized powerhouse of audio wonderment. This compact, go anywhere MP3 player attaches to your clothing or bag with the namesake clip, leaving your hands and pockets free to handle other tasks.
The 4GB Clip+ can hold up to 1,000 songs in the MP3 format and up to 2,000 songs in the WMA format. In addition to these popular music files, the player will also support secure WMA, Audible, Ogg Vorbis, and FLAC, along with audio books and podcasts. This is the third Sansa product our family has purchased and we have NOT been disappointed in any of our purchases. This one went to my wife and she absolutely loves it! It even matches her phone!
Despite the small size, it has big sound and a chunky 4 GB of storage. Heck, I don't even know enough songs to take up all that space!
On a side note, she let her 88 year old father listen to a few songs and he was astonished at the quality from such a small package. I think I know who the next Sansa Fan in the family will be!

Once I figured out how to use it, it's satisfactory.I listen to fm radio and recorded books - not bought from Audible.The tuner is good at picking up my preferred station 75 miles away. One has to download the manual, which is of little help as far as listening to books is concerned. Found out from searching the web that one puts the folder containing the chapters into the Music folder. To play the chapters in order, you have to search all the settings and options until you find Folders. Then it works well.
Disadvantages:1.must charge from computer. I have a USB charger from a 5-year old Samsung, which surprisingly does not work with this. Which means that on a trip I'll have to take my computer. 2. Volume is not sufficient for mall walking - OK if background is quiet. Can't see the point of the graphics for the sound. 3. With the Samsung you could connect a cd player to the device and the cd would be ripped and installed automatically. No such thing here. 4. cannot record from fm.
Sansa assumes that the principal use will be with playlists which one downloads from the computer; I've never used a playlist - prefer to use albums.
Advantages: it's very lightweight. Battery lasts longer (but not the advertised 10-15 hours)
I'm relieved to have found something small to replace my old samsung, but I miss the fm recording, the ability to use a usb charger, and the low volume.

First of all, comes with all foreign language showing up. Finally stumbled onto English. Wanted it for audiobook listening. Finally, after much fumbling, got to transfer from overdrive media console. THen I get a lovely syncing error message and could not for the life of me get rid of that. Tried all the tricks out there in Google land. I finally ended up tossing it and throwing my hands up in the error. I know I am of the older generation, but really, better directions would be helpful. I did not want to listen to music, so I obviously chose the wrong product for my mission.

I'm a 65 year old techno-phobe. I was very apprehensive about using this player. Wasted energy! This player is very user-friendly, easy to load, and easy to play. The price was also very attractive!
I ordered this player mid-afternoon on one day, paid $1.75 to overnight it, and had it delivered by mid-morning on the next day. I was using it competently within 30 minutes.

I bought this for my sister after buying one for my Dad after buying one for myself. This is the only brand of mp3 player I have ever purchased so my comparisons are limited to only those mp3 of friends I have listened to and that is limited to a few ipods. I have used my (inexpensive) headphones with the ipod mini and standard size and I believe that the sansa clip plus clearly has superior sound quality to those. And in a vacuum, without direct comparison, I think that the sound quality is very good/excellent. I listen to mostly jazz and classical with some pop and rap instrumentals thrown in. I think I have a good ear that is sensitive to balance and overall quality.
I use it for travel and excersize as well as general downtime. I find the navigation fairly intuitive and easy on the unit itself (actual music playing). But I can't give it 5 stars because I don't find it easy to do a simple thing such as create a playlist through the windows interface. I feel as though there are a lot more options than someone who is not a masochistic file manipulator can access. I think I also remember not getting too much satisfaction from the online manual on that subject either. Then you get on the web and search generally and you find these geeks on mp3 discussion forums who are more than willing to give intructions on how to create playlists but you have to know their lingo to take advantage. I don't. I have been able to create a playlist but only one. When I try to make two it seems like one will replace the other and I have two idetical playlists.
But this isn't really a big deal to me. I wanted something simple, portable, and with good sound quality and this device delivers that. If I want to watch videos I will do so on a bigger screen. If I want to view pictures I will use a camera. If I want to share files I will use my computer.
I tetatively plan on exploring a different mp3 if in fact I can get even better sound quality in a more expensive mp3, but at the same time I plan on buying another one of these as a backup just in case they stop making them.

Small, nicely packaged device does a lot of different things, including even a microphone and recording system. And certainly has utility as an mp3 player. I'm mostly using the FM radio which is easy to use and has good reception. The locking mechanism is no longer a hardware switch as in the older Clip, now its just holding down a button for a few seconds. The downside is that it does not prevent accidentally holding down the power button and causing shutoff, though thats hard enough to do that it hasnt happened to me yet.

This was a replacement for one that fell in a cup of coffee. Holds 100's of songs and we use the mini card with another 1000 songs on it. Easy to use and download. I would buy another if some mis-fortune happens again.

I needed a new MP3 to download audiobooks cuz my older one couldn't do that. I went in search of something cheaper just for that purpose. However, this thing is so awesome that I've completely converted my music library over to it as well. I primarily use it when I go to the gym or when I'm walking my dog and it fits into any pocket or it has a nice clip on the back, too. I'm still getting familiar with navigating it and I only gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because the buttons aren't as well marked as I think they could be. It's been a lot of trial & error finding things. Overall, it's well-worth the money!
