The UA-101 from Cakewalk is a 10 input, 10 output USB 2.0 audio and MIDI interface for Mac and Windows computers. It enables you to record and monitor 10 inputs simultaneously, making it possible to track an entire band. It features an impressive number of outputs for a compact interface, with 10 balanced TRS outputs, a headphone output, and two channels of optical S/PDIF. A handy analog limiter is included on the input stage, which helps control spikes in volume and reduce clipping and digital distortion.
The high-speed USB 2.0 connectivity of the UA-101 makes its large I/O count possible, even at higher sampling and bit rates. If you're looking to create lush sounding high-resolution recordings, the UA-101 is an excellent option because it records and plays back up to 6 tracks simultaneously at 192 kHz. All of the internal processing takes place at 40-bit, ensuring high fidelity operation throughout.
Windows users can take advantage of the included Cakewalk Production Plus Pack software (the UA-101 is fully compatible with Apple computers, however, the included software is not). The software bundle includes SONAR LE (a powerful audio recording and sequencing workstation), Dimension LE (a software instrument with over 400 sounds), and Project5 LE (virtual instrument host, audio recorder, and drum programming software).
Guitar players, bass players, and producers alike will appreciate the Hi-Z button on the front panel of the UA-101, which transforms inputs 1 and 2 to instrument-level. The two built-in preamps are high-quality and can provide phantom power to condenser microphones. Whether you're recording full bands, solo or acoustic ensembles, doing voice overs for video production, creating electronic music, or digital DJing, the UA-101 offers excellent sound quality in an ultra-compact form factor.
