Apple's 16GB iPod nano (Black) is just as much video camera as it is personal music library, FM radio, and fitness coach! The nano lets you record up to 16 hours of Internet ready 640 x 480 VGA video. It also gives you the option to choose from 15 different special effects to make every video truly unique. Once you've captured the moment share it with everyone through email, YouTube, MobileMe, Facebook or other social networking sites.
The 5th generation has a few design changes as well, including an expanded 2.2 inch LCD screen and a polished anodized aluminum finish. And, when it comes to storage the 5G can hold up to 4,000 songs or up to 14,000 photos. The nano still rocks the Genius Playlist feature, and now Genius Mixes as well. When synced with iTunes the player can create up to 12 different mixes based on your music.
When you feel like taking a break from your music, the nano has a built-in FM tuner. Apple went a step beyond radio by also giving the tuner iTunes tagging and Live Pause. In addition, the VoiceOver feature tells you the title and artist of the songs you're listening to. You can also use Voice Memo to save notes to self or any other audio you want to record.
To help you reach your fitness goals, the nano now has a built-in pedometer for counting your steps. And, when paired with the Nike + iPod Sport Kit (available separately) you can use the nano to keep track of your runs or gym workouts too.

I bought this as a second, lite weight iPod. I do a lot of hiking and photography and thought it would be nice to take web ready video. The new nano does not have video.

The only thing I don't like is that it doesn't take pictures, although it films.

Use almost exclusive for the gym. Has enough capacity to load up my favorite tunes and casts. I haven't found the battery life to be an issue, and I use wireless BT headphones (Sony) with iPod an BT transceiver-- works fine including volume controls and switching to my phone on the fly and back.

I use this product daily and have been very pleased with it's performance. The functions are user friendly and it takes very little time to set up and begin enjoying music (I'm 53 years old, so when I comment that a electronic product is user friendly I know what I'm talking about). The size of the product and the battery life between charging add to it's value.

My wife and I use it during workouts and they work flawless. It's small and built to last including a long battery life. There are many mp3 players on the market, but what you get from Apple is a product that works and holds its value. In most cases, the resale market for Apple products is booming.

Comments about Apple 16GB iPod nano (Black):
Size, portability, sound quality, ease of use are all excellent. I use the voice recording feature for notes on the go. The video camera will be a convenient way to show my family what I do when out of town. I'll be traveling this summer and plan to send video postcards to my kids. Tons of storage, and loads faster than previous models.

This iPod Nano is being used to listen to lectures, and music. The music it totally not on an audiophile's level. However, such as it is, the sound is good and the earphones are reasonably comfortable. However, having the controls in the earphone cable is really annoying since it means you really can't get another kind of headphone if you are not comfortable with the in-ear ear buds.

I use the iPod nano to listen to music thru the radio on my Harley Davidson Ultra Classic Electra Glide. It will hold forty albums of music in the Apple loss less format which sounds great!! It`s nice to have that library of music at ones fingertips when on a rode trip.

Of course it does music, the video is great, the pedometer is very useful as well. I was able to load my total immersion language disks onto the nano to help me learn Spanish. No complaints.

I had the 3G nano and was perfectly happy with it. I passed it down to my daughter and got this one... wow!!! It's so much fun. The video camera is very good, the built-in AM/FM was a good call, and the extras like pedometer and games are pretty cool too. I'm a PC but I definitely love Apple :)

I work out a lot and need music. I've ran with the classic ipod and even my iphone and this is best out of all of them. It's light, holds enough music to run my hearts content and it even has a pedometer to track my runs.

Comments about Apple 16GB iPod nano (Black):
I've been using an ipod video for about 4 years before it finally died. When it came time to replace it, I looked long and hard at what was out there. The ipod nano 5th gen 16 gb doesn't disappoint.
16 gig is plenty of space to feed my podcast and workout addictions. The interface is rich with functionality without being cumbersome or overwhelming. The video camera is a nice touch as well.
What could be done better? Like anything else, there is always room for improvement.
Camera - the camera is pretty good in terms of video quality, but the lens location is really inconvenient. It's difficult to work the camera controls without accidentally covering the viewfinder.
There also doesn't seem to be any way or any accessory to affix the device to a tripod. That would be good.
Likewise, it would be good to have the functionality of being able to shoot video with the unit upright - instead of just horizontally.
Interface - Apple keeps the interface elegant, but it seems that it tries to do too much at times. The voice over feature is cool, but gets annoying pretty quickly.
iTunes - More a critique against apple, but it is very frustrating to have to do everything through itunes. Especially when working with videos. Being able to have the device show up as a camera or a storage device in windows would streamline much of that.
Overall, it's a solid buy and you can't go wrong with the device. It's good quality compared to what else is out there, and seems to be put together so that it will last.

Compared to my old 2 gig I-Pod this thing is light years ahead. I like listening to complete albums and this fits the bill perfectly. It has all the memory I need to to hold album after album .
I upgraded to a set of enhanced bass Sony ear buds which augment the already greatly improved sound of this 5th gen I-Pod.
The controls are unchanged. The video camera is a fun gadget which takes surprisingly good video and sound recordings!
The one thing to improve would be the average battery life, but I like listening at high volumes which cuts down on bat life.
