Archival Methods 07-001-3 Slide Box ONLY (Tan, 3 Pack)
The Archival Methods Slide Box (Tan)- These rugged slide boxes are designed to hold either 200 traditional cardboard mounted slides or 100 glass mounted slides. The important aspect of this system is safe storage of your valuable slides. Especially if you are planning for long-term storage, these boxes will serve you well.
The Archival Methods Slide Storage System is comprised of three parts: a slide storage box, a slide storage bin and a drop front storage box. In this way, your transparencies can be stored in an organized and safe manner. They will be safe from dust, fingerprints and other detrimental elements.
Note! This item is just the Slide Storage Box. It is NOT the entire Slide Storage System
- The Slide Storage System consists of three components: a) 35mm Slide Box for mounted slides, b) Slide Trays to group slides within the Slide Box and c) Drop Front Master Box that neatly and conveniently holds and protects six of the Slide Boxes
Components of the System
- 35mm Slide Box: Each box safely stores 200 standard, cardboard mounted slides. The box will hold approximately 100 glass-mounted slides. Interior Dimensions are 11-3/8 x 2 x 2-3/8" (LWH)
- Slide Tray Bin (.020 tan board only): Holds (25) 35mm cardboard mounted slides each. Eight trays fit within each Slide Box. The trays have an extended backwall lip or tab for labeling. Trays have a "pop and lock", instant set-up design
- Drop Front Master Box: Holds six slide boxes
Archival Quality
- Tan: thickness .020, .040 and .060; Black thickness .055
- Tan finish: smooth plate finish. Black finish: textured paper laminated on acid- free black core
- Made from fully bleached, high alpha cellulose pulp; it does not contain any post consumer waste recycled pulp; paper is free of metal particles, waxes, plasticizers, residual bleach, peroxide, sulfur content is less than 0.0008% reducible sulfur
- The lignin content is measured by the phloroglucinol test with a Kappa number of 5 or less
- Metallic Impurities, Iron will not exceed 150 ppm and copper shall not exceed 6 ppm; no optical brightening agents are used in the pulp
- The paper contains a minimum of 3% calcium carbonate (CaCO3) with a pH range 8-9.5
- Alkaline or neutral sizing are used. No alum rosin or rosin sizing are used
- Color dyes are light-fast and non-bleeding
- Surface of the paper is smooth and free from knots, shives, and abrasive particles
- Board will not degrade and cause harm to artifacts stored in boxes made from this paper
- This paper passes the PAT (Photographic Activity Test) ISO 14523 formally ANSI IT9.16

Nice boxes, the cardboard material is very smooth and clean. It is supposed to be acid free, ph-balanced, etc, but I have no way of verifying those claims.
For the money, dividers should have been included.
Do not use regular index cards as dividers, because the paper stock in regular index cards is not that great. Use only archival quality acid-free card stock.
Capacity is about 135 Gepe 7001 slides (2.1mm thickness) per box.

Easily houses my old slides in a much more accessible way. Allowed me to get rid of the old, dusty carousels that they were in for years. also makes it easier to index the slides.

Well constructed boxes for holding years of 35MM slides. Does exactly what I expected. Would have been nice if the boxes came with a 10 or so so dividers to keep the subjects or years separated in the box. Ended up making my own from 3X5 cards which worked just fine.

I got these boxes to storage 35mm slides in them, rather than using the bulkier carousel trays. They are sturdy and take up a lot less space. I would highly recommend them.

After scanning in over 6000 of my parents' 35mm slides, my parents no longer wanted the slides in the trays because they took up so much space. We decided to purchases these boxes, and they are perfect. I was able to fit more than 200 per box (about 230 or so cardboard mount slides). I used an index card as a divider between groups of slides to label them.
The only thing I wish these boxes had was some way to label the outside of the box other than just writing on the box itself (maybe a window where you can slide a label down in, so you can change it if you need to).
All in all, this is a great purchase, and they seem like they will hold up over the years.
