This is a excellent Beltpack with plenty of room. It didn't put a whole lot of stress on my back while carrying it with all my equipment in it. Highly recommended.

Comments about Lowepro Outback 300AW Modular Beltpack:

I purchased this bag knowing that it would be big...I have a lot of stuff. The three lenses, camera body, filters, batteries, and extra cards fit nicely in this bag. The problem was that once I had all my stuff in it, it was too heavy on my lower back. Plus, it sticks out a good foot and a half from the body. The included shoulder strap was/is a necessary accessory to this bag. On the positive side; you can slide this bag around the waist, allowing for weight shifting. It is a very good bag; actually, my equipment fits better in it than my backpack bag. I just would not be able to climb around with that much, somewhat loose, weight around my waist. Two other things I did not like were: Lens hoods will not fit into the side lens cases, and while the camera is in the bag, it is face down...I don't like that position for my camera, I prefer it to be back down or flat. The reason is, if the bag gets dropped or jarred, the lens gets jameed up into the camera body. I have expensive equipment and I intend to protect it.

Comments about Lowepro Outback 300AW Modular Beltpack:

I bought this bag when I purchased a Canon 50D. I needed a bag that would withstand my throwing it in and out of the car, as well as the possibility of one of my kids falling on it (they are little).
              My husband thinks it's perfect. I think it's a little big. (He's 6'5", I'm 5'7")
It fits my Canon 50d with a 28-135mm lens attached, a Sigma 70-300mm lens, and my 50mm. It also holds my portable hard drive, some diapers, and all the cords I can manage. There is a room to spare- I keep the two cylindrical lens keepers INSIDE the bag because I thought they made the bag too big when they were on the outside. This bag is one to grow with me- it'll serve me through whatever lenses I purchase in the future. I mainly use the shoulder strap as opposed to the waist belt. One thing I wish was different: there is no grab handle on the top of the bag. There is one on the side, but for quick placement adjustments, I'd like a short handle on top.

Comments about Lowepro Outback 300AW Modular Beltpack:

In the main compartment I typically have a D300 w/zoom, one prime lens, SB800 flash and assorted other small stuff. While the design lends itself to adding additional lenses the unit quickly becomes too heavy to be supported comfortably by the waist belt alone. For a large load, expect to use the shoulder strap AND the waist belt otherwise the unit will hang away (sag) from one's body.

Typical of Lowepro - the unit is well designed for camera gear and appears to use sturdy materials (so far, no problems). While not cheap, it was (IMO) the best belt pack I found. Fit is perfect for the gear I want to carry, but I needed to buy larger external lens holder for an 80-300 zoom. If you really need to bring several lenses consider a backpack.

I've also found that a unused external (side) lens unit makes an excellent insulated drink holder for long excursions/shoots.
