The Zeikos ZE-NBG300 Power Battery Grip is a powerful and versatile accessory for the Nikon D300, D300s & D700 SLR Digital Cameras. The grip effectively doubles your shooting time by holding 1 EN-EL3E or EN-EL4a lithium-ion rechargeable battery in the grip while the 2nd battery remains in the camera body. You can use the BL-3 Battery Chamber Cover with the grip.
It also has an AA cartridge plate that holds 8 AA batteries. In addition, the vertical firing release with lock makes holding the camera in the vertical orientation as easy and secure as holding the camera in the horizontal position.

I was very concerned about buying an off-brand grip because I worried about construction quality. I was inclined to buy the Nikon MB-D10, but at 3 or 4 times the price of the Zeikos, it didn't seem to be good value. Other positive reviews here persuaded me to give this Zeikos grip a try, and I couldn't be happier.
The Zeikos is mostly plastic, but the grip is the same pleasant texture as the grip material on the D300. The unit screws into the tripod screw mount on the bottom of the camera. You remove the rubber seal on the camera bottom to expose the connectors, and Zeikos even thought to carve out a convenient storage nook for that rubber seal in the grip (it's that little angled section closest to the front of the product image), so it's right there when you decide to go for a shoot without the grip.
The fit is nice and tight, and does not feel like it will break.
I'm a semi-pro who occasionally shoots events such as car races and weddings. I use a D300. For weddings, especially when using the large-ish 70-200mm f/2.8, this grip saves my arm, because I can shoot portrait shots without holding my arm over the top of the camera.
The D300 draws power from the battery in the grip first, and once that's depleted, it switches to the battery in the camera. This is great, because you can then charge the grip battery while continuing to shoot with the camera battery. And the odds are good the battery from the grip will be fully charged well before you deplete the battery inside the camera.
It offers its own multi-selector right where your thumb will find it, so when you're shooting portrait, you can still easily adjust the focus point, review images, and work in menus without having to flip the camera around. One drawback: the multi-selector protrudes a bit and is easy to nudge accidentally with your finger, forehead, camera strap, etc.
The Zeikos comes with 2 battery trays: one for an EN-EL3a (the standard battery that comes with the D300), and one for 8 AA batteries. Loading just an EN-EL3a doesn't boost frame rate. I haven't tried doing a full shoot with the AAs, but I did verify that using them gives the D300 a frame-rate boost when shooting in JPEG (the D300 can't shoot faster than about 3 fps in RAW regardless of power source). I usually shoot in RAW, so this isn't that valuable to me. Still, it's comforting to know I could power my D300 with just AA batteries in a pinch.
The unit also is technically able to accept the EN-EL4a battery, but requires a third battery bay cover, which does not come with the grip. Nikon's MB-D10 also requires this sold-separately battery cover for this purpose. I've not yet purchased this cover, because the EN-EL4a battery also requires a separate charger. However, not only does the EN-EL4a provide even longer life than the EN-EL3a, but it also provides the frames-per-second boost for the D300 when shooting in JPEG, so perhaps you'll find it worthwhile to look into that as well.
If you frequently shoot in portrait, want all-day battery life, or need the extra frame-rate boost, the Zeikos battery grip is an affordable, high-quality substitute for Nikon's MB-D10. It's plastic, not magnesium like the Nikon, but unless you're using your camera as a hammer, Zeikos' build quality is a great match for the D300/D700.

I've been wanting a battery grip for my D300 for some time but wasn't ready to shell out the $$$ for the Nikon version (and 4-eLN batteries) while at the same time I was hesitant to by a 3rd-party make. I started seeing some good reviews for the Zeikos and figured it was worth [$] to give it a shot. Before I go any further, let me say that the main reason I wanted the grip was to shoot race events in portrait orientation easier. 6-fps is fine for what I do.My initial impression when I opened the box was that the grip felt cheap and rattled a bit. It is plastic and not the mag-alloy that you find in the Nikon version. Once it was mounted on my D300, though, the rattling stopped and it felt pretty solid. I've shot 2 races, a 10k and 5k, and I've been impressed with the performance of the grip. I still have to break the habit of rotating my arm to get in portrait position as opposed to instinctively moving the grip shutter release but that will come with usage. The downside to the grip is that one battery is in the camera chamber and the second in the grip, meaning to charge both batteries, you have to completely remove the grip. 6-fps verses 8-fps with 3-eLN batteries. I still probably would have given it 4-stars with the exception on one thing... the toggle switch on the grip is very small and difficult to control smoothly, making the setting of the focus point, image review, etc a little challenging.I would recommend this as a good solution for someone not wanting to purchase the Nikon grip.

I use this on my D300 and so far it has worked just fine for me. I shoot portraits and some HDR stuff for our own background/composite work. The battery pack is something I have delayed in getting till I saw this battery packs reviews so I went for it. I like the ability to switch to portrait and have the button still at my finger tip. The pack does what it is supposed to do and the tripod mount seems pretty snug so I am fine with this product, it works. I will not give a 5 star because it simply is not the magnesium Nikon battery pack and this is a little lesser in quality maybe... but it does what it is supposed to do.

I purchased one of these grips for my D300 and then another one for my D700. They are flawless and work great. For the money, you can't beat it. I know Nikon's battery grip is well over $200. But if you want good value and a good price, I highly recommend this product.

Comments about Zeikos ZE-NBG300 Power Battery Grip:
Not sure how it compares to the Nikon version as I've never used it but it fits snug on my D700, doesn't feel "cheap", makes it easier to take vertical shots with the second shutter release, makes the cam a heck of a lot easier to balance with the 70-200 attached and of course just really makes the cam look awesome too lol. As far as the functionality of it is concerned all controls work as they should and it doesn't "drain" the battery any faster then the one in the cam as I have read on other reviews. But as far as giving the camera "extra power" I really don't notice too much of that at all. The cam basically just uses one battery at a time with this grip on and uses the battery in the grip first although I think you can change that in one of the cam menus. So it does "double your shooting time" but so would an extra battery sitting in your bag. So if you want "double the power per shot" with a faster burst mode and more power to your flash then I don't think your going to get it with this grip (now I know why the Nikon one is so much more expensive). But I don't normally shoot in burst and have a bunch of extra rechargeable AA's for my SB600 so I wasn't looking for those features anyway. But if you are looking for a cheap grip that does everything else I listed above then go with this one...its worth it.

Comments about Zeikos ZE-NBG300 Power Battery Grip:
Bought the grip expecting what I got. I read the reviews and it was a 50% good 50% not so good on the battery grip.
First impression taking it out of the box is that it matched nikons battery grips pretty well. I have 2 other cameras with the genuine grips that I use all the time, and I have a third body that I don't use as often, but still wanted the feel of the grip and the easy access via battery tray.
Placing the grip on the body, I tightened it down and the tightening screw went free. The grip is on the camera well, but now I can't get it off again. The internals are plastic and the little force I used to put it on stripped the internals. Unless I break off the grip, the grip is on the camera forever.
Also, when placing the camera with grip on a magic arm, I was tightening down the screw in the tripod mount and it went on really easy and tightened. Didn't realize that the screw from the tripod mount went right threw the battery grip and jammed up against the battery in the grip and made it not accesible to open. When taking the tripod mount off, I saw that the screw went right threw.
The battery grip takes the EN-EL4 battery and the battery trays from the genuine nikon grips, but are a bit smaller and a gap is present.
Overall, besides my two concerns which don't hinder the operational functions, this grip works well on the camera and gives me the verticals I was seeking. If it quits working, I would have to break it off and spend the money to get the real thing.
You get what you pay for.

This grip hasn't let me down, though I haven't used the Nikon original to compare it to. It feels light and plasticy, but it is after all made of plastic. Also, if it were too much heavier you'd need a monopod all the time.

Comments about Zeikos ZE-NBG300 Power Battery Grip:
I am a professional photographer and was in need of a battery pack for my Nikon D700. I shoot mostly sports and do some portrait photography as well. So, I started researching online for the best product for me.
I found several battery packs that looked like they would do the job. Some of those being the Nikon MB-D10 (my first choice if it weren't for the $$$ issue), the Opteka (looked flimsy), Digipower (bad reviews and didn't like the look of it), Phottix (mixed reviews) and obviously the Zeikos brand. The ZE-NBG300 had the best reviews and it looked very similar to the original Nikon MD-D10 without the expensive price tag. I decided to give it a try.
Since receiving the battery pack I have been very impressed with the look and feel of the product. It's nice and sturdy and fits well with my D700. No clicking or jiggling once it is secured to the camera. It feels solid, not like it's going to break. And it functions well with the camera. The shutter release and toggle switch work perfectly. I am very excited about the increase in the FPS. Even with shooting in RAW, I am now able to increase the shutter speed dramatically and catch more great action shots. I have only used this battery pack for about 4 days of shooting so far, but am very satisfied with the product. I only wish that I would have bought one a long time ago.

Purchased the NBG300 as a replacement for the Nikon version I had "misplaced". After 5 shoots with the Zeikos unit, I am very impressed based on pricing, and use. The only minor irritant I've found is the tightening wheel, which is a little loose (side-to-side), but for the price it's something I can live with.

Not sure why I got this.....I was expecting to have my FPS go up but it remained the same since this BP uses one battery at a time of your choosing. Another set back was that when attached, my D300 no longer fit comfortably in my camera bag. Overall it makes the camera bigger. Well built though, the best of any except the Nikon version but that one is over $200 new. Couldn't see spending the $'s on that.
