Zeikos ZE-RS80 Remote Switch
The Zeikos ZE-RS80 Remote Switch is a compact wired remote switch with a cable which replicates all functions of the camera's shutter release button. Handy for taking pictures of subjects that are difficult to approach, or to minimize vibration for close-ups and time exposure. The switch is compatible with the Canon EOS-3, 1V HS /1V, 1D, 1Ds, 1DS MARK II, 1DS Mark III, 1D Mark II, 1D Mark III, 5D, 5D Mark II, 7D, 10D, 20D, 30D, & 40D, 50D cameras.

Ordered this as an alternative to a much-more-expensive canon's remote. While I cannot compare the two, I must say this one does what is intended for. And it does it without anything to complain about.
Oh, sure, sometime you'd wish the cord is much longer, but than all the other times the longer length would just get in the way.
I only have it shortly but have already dropped its handle on a marble floor a dozen of times. It has survived such a short fall. So I would say it is a die-hard.
Some might find the body to be small in the hands, but I don't mind it, because it makes it that much more portable and light.
I don't now why the propriety N3 connectors and the products around it, are so expensive, but this remote is affordable way to have one.

Excellent for long exposures, such as star/night photos. Trigger button depresses halfway for focus, then all the way for exposure and has locking mechanism for "bulb" photographs. Comes with about a three foot cord so you don't have to worry about shaking the camera, too. It is very simple, though, don't expect to access any menus or have accessory functions. This gadget only allows hands off exposure or bulb exposure, which is why I purchased it.

It does what it should. I have not used it often, but when I have it has worked. Light and easy to keep in your bag. Allows for manual Bulb exposure. Comparing it to a canon one I have for my film camera they are both of the same build quality and weight. Great for the price.

Can't believe how cheap this was. Works for focus (half press) and release. Great to use on tripods. But, it does tend to lose connection, so I have to check the cable connection frequently. But usually, you use this for slow shutter photography, so having to check connection is not that big of a loss. Still a great deal for [$].

Was skeptical of this remote given the dirt cheap price tag. Encouraged by the other positive reviews I picked one up. I figured worse case scenario, I was gonna waste [$]...so it was worth the gamble.So far I have been extremely happy with the remote. Button feels solid, the locking slide also feels solid, remote fits nicely in the hand as well. Very simple to use, plug and play. Does what it is supposed to do. Some reviewers complain about accidentally putting the remote in "lock" mode while shooting...I don't seem to have that problem though. The only drawback is the very limited cord. Would be nice to have a cord longer than 3.5ft, but so far it hasn't hindered me that much. Longer cord would have got it 5 stars though. Regardless, this is a quality product at a bargain price

Doesn't work in vid mode (none do), but is just awesome for a cheap way to prevent movement. Cord is a bit short, but for the price, I can't believe it works as well as it does and is built as well as it is. If you're looking for just a remote and don't mind being tethered, don't look past this one. Get it.

Awesome product for an awesome price. The only down side is that while it is a dual function (half way to focus/meter, full press for shutter release), there is no middle physical feedback telling you you are half way (like on the camera's shutter release), so it took some getting used to. The first few times I was only trying to focus and I went to far and took the shot, but its easy to get the hang of. The lock feature is nice for BULB exposures.
