The PM-21 Podcast Mixer Kit from Technical Pro is a complete podcasting kit for Mac or PC. The kit includes a compact mixer, a professional-grade MK-20 microphone, and a pair of HP-20 digital headphones.
The mixer features 4 source inputs with 6 discrete channels in a compact metal chassis. It has a pair of gold-plated 1/4" mic inputs, as well as stereo RCA and 3.5mm inputs for connecting a CD player, MP3 player, or other devices. It also has a stereo RCA output for connecting to speakers, a recorder, or other equipment. The USB connection allows you to connect easily to a Mac or PC. A pair of 3.5mm headphone outputs allow you and a partner to listen to your audio, perfect for conducting interviews. Individual bass, treble, and volume controls for each channel allow you to adjust the audio signal to suit a particular speaker's voice. The mixer can operate via AC power or a 9V battery for use at home or in the field with a laptop.
The MK-20 dynamic wired microphone has a die-cast body for lasting durability. It has a standard XLR connector, and the included 10' cable converts to a 1/4" plug for easy connection to your mixer. A heavy-duty mic stand is included for easy placement on a desk or table. The HP-20 headphones have a self-adjusting headband and thick around-ear cushions for lasting comfort and noise isolation. The headphones have large super-bass drivers for terrific sound quality. The single-sided 10' cable provides plenty of slack and is resistant to tangles. It has a standard 3.5mm plug for wide compatibility.
The included education software, developed by Podbean, provides step-by-step podcasting instruction, allowing you to make professional-sounding podcasts right away. The tutorial covers scripting, tips on promotion, and a guide to the technical aspects of your equipment. The software package also includes Audacity editing software, which allows you to record, edit, and export your recordings.

Comments about Technical Pro PM-21 Podcast Mixer Kit:
I just recorded my first podcast and there was a loud buzzing sound throughout the entire recording!
I went through each connection an found the USB plug on in the mixer is bad. I wouldn't buy this again, unless your goal is to record a buzzing sound!

Comments about Technical Pro PM-21 Podcast Mixer Kit:
Overall, it was a good deal. The mixer works OK, but it's not a "pro" grade item. That said, it's doing what I wanted it for: as a USB audio input for my computer, which I use with Skype. I really have not planned to record podcasts, but this unit would let me do that easily with the included open source recording software. The microphone works well, and the included desk stand is just the right size for the task.
You get a lot for the money, especially when it's on sale.

Comments about Technical Pro PM-21 Podcast Mixer Kit:
I currently produce three podcasts and I was doing it with a small digital recorder when I was driving. Now, my commute changed recently and I no longer drive, so I had to find a different way to do the podcasts.
I wanted something that I could mix intro music from my PC as well as conducting interviews using Google Voice and Skype. This seemed to fit the bill, and I took about 2 hours to get the mixer setup to my liking.
Overall: 3 stars (***)
Pros:
-- Good price
-- Easy setup
-- Quality mixer & microphone
-- Headphones are very comfortable and fit large heads
-- Printed manual is nice and easy to follow
-- Excellent packaging
Cons:
-- mic cord literally fell apart first use - had to buy a replacement cord
-- Headphones are marginally good quality on audio range
Recommendation? Maybe - would I buy it again knowing what I know? Probably since it was a lot easier to buy a kit than trying to cobble together all the right parts and make it work.

Comments about Technical Pro PM-21 Podcast Mixer Kit:
I bought the Podcast Mixer Kit to better produce voice recordings for online use. The mixed allows for multiple inputs and I expected the sound quality to be better than using built-in mikes on my computers. Unfortunately, there is a noticeable hiss in the audio. While I can mask it out, it adds a step in producing decent audio that makes the investment much less valuable. The manufacturer should provide better information addressing the audio quality deficiencies and how best to address and resolve them.

I have just begun to start creating my own podcast. I can honestly say that the set up and learning of the equipment was flawless. [...]From the microphone to the mixer set up there isn't a thing that someone can screw up. The installation was straight forward and even someone that is non technical can work this equipment.

Comments about Technical Pro PM-21 Podcast Mixer Kit:
I bought this Kit not to podcast, but to narrate during a screen capture software training video I made. I am using a free open source program CamStudio to to do the screen capture. It works just fine with this Kit. The kit itself is complete and of a surprising quality considering it comes from China. Overall a good value. [...]
