Great standalone Skype unit that can be left logged in at all times to receive calls as necessary. No keyboard for small children to bang on when chatting with grandparents. Good for older people that are not technical in nature. Touch screen and buttons work very well. Quality of videochat is as good as it gets. Only wish Asus would have included support drivers for the wireless headset USB dongle. Apparently the USB port on the back is only for service use (factory setup and diagnostics). However can plug standard corded headset in easily to mic and headphone port. Integrated WiFi functionality is nice. Battery is only good for 20 minutes runtime so only good for transporting from spot to spot. Plan on plugging in to mains power for typical operation. Good for in home use or office cubical / conference room. Biggest obstacle is getting associates, friends, and family to be comfortable enough to participate in video chats.

Comments about ASUS Skype Videophone Touch AiGuru SV1TS:
Wireless is unreliable and therefor useless. Very problematic getting it to connect. For some reason, even while connected, video would cut out (audio would remain). Not a bandwidth issue, works fine from a laptop on the same network. Very glitchy software. Great idea, I just wish it worked. I need a Skype solution that is grandma-friendly and this is definitely not it.

Comments about ASUS Skype Videophone Touch AiGuru SV1TS:
Great for the techologically challenged.
The unit is very easy to set-up and even easier to use for those who don't want to go beyond the complexity of a regular phone when making skype calls.
Three gripes: The battery life should be longer, there should be a video-out for a connection to the TV, and the camera could be better quality, but overall a very solid product.
I would buy it again.

This device is very useful for keeping in touch with seniors. My dad is 83 and we are using it to have distant siblings help with managing his medications. Being able to see him is great because we can have him show us the pillbox etc. and it is also helpful to be able to see how he looks. The touch screen is easy to use and very intuitive, but the auto-answer feature means that my dad doesn't need to do anything to accept a call!

How do you get Mom or Grandma on the other side of the world (or opposite coast) to embrace video calls when they are afraid of computers and refuse to get ISP service or a computer? You buy monthly isp for them and set up this easy to use Asus Skype video-phone. Like many technophobes, eg. (afraid to do online banking or purchases) once they try this and see people during video calls it's like a weekly visit without the plane fare. And since no computer is involved the phone is on all the time. Once comfortable with this video phone, they may progress to computer use as fear subsides. This is a great niche product especially for the elderly and perhaps college students. I dare say that something as simple as this might be excellent for long term care people, isolated and getting few visits from family/ friends. Even a quick video call to grandma can make her day.

Easy to set up; very good picture and sound quality. Have not tried it on battery only. It seems to lose the wireless connection (via an Apple Airport Extreme) once in a while. Continues to ring when the call is picked up by another handset. Haven't made many video calls - but the ones I've tried have gone well. Color quality is not great. I have a number of Skype gadget and used Skype for all long distance calls for two years; this is the best gadget yet for Skype.

I purchased two of these units. One for my mother and one for her best friend. You can also use any computer with a camera and Skype. These units are much easier to use for people with little experience with computers. The unit is also always online able to accept calls. The video picture is not the best but good enough for the application. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars it has dropped the connection twice but that could have been caused by anything on either end. We are using the unit Wifi mode. Now Great Grandma can see the grand babies. It only last about an hour on batteries which is long enough for a call but it would be nice if it lasted longer.

Great for keeping in touch with relatives close and abroad. Setup was a little tricky till I got the router into DMZ mode. Phone charges are also very reasonable using Skype Phone.

Comments about ASUS Skype Videophone Touch AiGuru SV1TS:
I bought this device as a gift for a family member, they were using a laptop with Skype to keep in touch with friends and family but that proved to be too much. The AiGuru SV1TS has proven to be the perfect solution. The device only does one thing and luckily it does that well. The interface is very intuitive and works great. From opening the box to configuring the wireless network security and making our first test call was about 3 minutes. I'm very impressed with the video quality on the screen and of the image from the camera. Overall I'm very satisfied with the product and highly recommend it- I will probably buy at least one more for another family member. My only complaint about the device is that the battery life could be better. It comes with what looks like a standard netbook battery so I was surprised that it was so short.

Comments about ASUS Skype Videophone Touch AiGuru SV1TS:
I was skeptical about the Asus Skype videophone because it's so new and I usually don't like devices that only do one thing like this, but when looking for a gift for my aging dad (he's 88) this came up. He has a hard time with the computer, so we thought we would give this a try.
It was really easy to set up and is pretty easy to use. The touch screen is very accurate and responsive and the battery is a nice feature to be able to take the machine anywhere in the house.
I would definitely recommend the device, especially if you have someone who needs something a little less complicated than a computer.
The only drawback I see is that it's just another piece of hardware and all it does is skype. Not sure yet how updates are handled.
