The Portable DVD±RW SuperMulti DVD Burner from LaCie is an external DVD burner with a bus-powered USB interface. Perfectly suited for use with notebook computer systems, the drive does not require an external power source -- simply plug it into your system via USB and it is ready for use.
It can burn all types of DVD discs, including DVD-RAM, as well as CD-R and CD-RW media. It includes the Creator Suite 10 software application for Windows. The burner supports LightScribe printing, which uses a laser to print labels directly onto compatible media.

This is my first drive with technology and i must say is amazing. I created a DVD with old pictures from structures and people of my country and finished it with a professional looking one. The drive was powered with only one USB connected to my Acer Aspire 5810T laptop. The burning task was good, no error in the process.

This drive is the perfect accessory for a netbook which does not have its own CD drive or a notebook/desktop with a read-only DVD drive. I have one at work and one at home for my netbook. The only problem I encountered is that the included Roxio software is not 100% compatible with the limited resolution of my netbook's screen. (That's the sole reason for not giving it a full five stars.)

Used it to reinstall the OS for my netbook since it didn't come with a built in drive.
It's cheap and it works. I mean, what else do I need to say? There really isn't anything else that you need to know about it. It's small enough to wrap into a shirt and throw into your suitcase.

As an artist, this DVD/CD with LightScribe is the
perfect compliment to backing up my artwork and photographs. It's easy to load, easy to use and
makes finding the correct CD later on an easy task! I just look for the Title and can relate each batch by just glancing at my 'background' photo burned onto the label. It is super, handy to take along and travels well. Definitely a good investment.

Works great on a stable surface with great burn times. Don't move it once you've started the burn process though or you'll end up with a bad disc every time. I bough the PC version (only difference is software) because I already owned Toast. Saved me a few bucks too.
Another great thing was I was able to boot from this drive when my mac was first starting up.
