The Canon 2.7" LCD Hood is a wise addition to any camcorder with a 2.7" LCD screen. The hood blocks sunlight when working outdoors, eliminating glare and washout, allowing you to easily view the screen. An investment in this accessory will make outdoor shooting experiences more enjoyable and productive.

I use this lens hood on my Canon HFS10 because it lacks a viewfinder and it sure beats having to hold my hand over the screen or having to squint.
The things I like about it are that it seems to be well crafted and that it has velcro folds which allow you to adjust it to your LCD screen.
I do have a couple issues with it though.. One would be that it doesn't fold down (or at least not easily) so it makes it tricky to store if you don't have alot of space in your case, Two would be that it blocks some of the controls on my camera, then again it wasnt designed specifically for the HFS line of cameras..
Three would be something I would personally like see Canon to change, although not necessary, would be the velcro straps. Although they are convenient I would have rather had an elastic cloth to hold it tight, but the velcro does just fine.
Overall 4 stars, its cheap, it fixed my problem, but has some very minor inconveniences.

Comments about Canon 2.7" LCD Hood:
I use this with my Canon Vixia HF M301 camcorder. It fits the LCD screen perfectly, and is a must have for very bright sunlight. The hood is well made, and fits tight. It will not fall off when moving camera around. Seems like it should have been included in the camera purchase price.
My one big complaint on most consumer HD camcorders is the lack of a optical view finder. I am not a fan of the LCD screen on camcorders, but the hood offers the opportunity for viewing in bright sun.

Comments about Canon 2.7" LCD Hood:
This LCD hood from Canon fits on the HV30 very well. I haven't tried the equivalent Hoodman LCD hood, but I've heard good things. I opted for this one because it was actually made by Canon, and figured it might fit a little more exact. As one reviewer said, it does seem like you should be able to close the velcro flaps a little more around the HV30 flip-out screen (it's not a "flat" closure unfortunately) but there's enough contact between the velcro around the HV30 screen that I don't feel like it will come off accidentally.
Oh, and it succeeds in keeping glare OFF the LCD screen of course (especially noticeable outdoors). I like the fact that the hood doesn't extend out as far on the bottom as it does on top, providing a more-than-adequate overhang as opposed to a box you have to look into, like with some hoods.
Feels very lightweight but good build-quality. Seems like it'll last forever.

I use this on my Panasonic AG-HMC40 videocamera. Of course, the LCD screen won't shut with it on. But, when you open up the screen, this hood installs in literally seconds. Well made, simple, and nice price, too.

Comments about Canon 2.7" LCD Hood:
I use this for my Canon HV20. I like its profile and it offers great protection and shade for the LCD screen. My only complaint is that because of the "thickness" of the LCD screen the velcro doesn't completely fasten in the back making it feel a little small. I do like it though.

It still works fine but it is not made for the XHA1. The way the LCD is made on that camcorder, the hood does not fit correctly.

Comments about Canon 2.7" LCD Hood:
for the price I was hoping there would be a way to fasten this hood to the camera...i just fits over top...
I bought two and lost one during Day 3 into the shoot...if you are trying to run around with your camera and mobility is important (as i'm sure it is you are using a handheld!) then this is really a silly product...
at least B&H has it cheaper than Canon does on their online store! (thumbs up guys) but Canon should really have made a hood that is fully integrated

Comments about Canon 2.7" LCD Hood:
Great little hood, fits my Canon Vixia HF m31 perfectly. Only downside; it is a bit thick on the back side of the LCD screen where the velcro is, but the velcro is very strong and could hold on for a long time. Canon quality is expexted and they delivered.

Comments about Canon 2.7" LCD Hood:
Not much to say really. It's a hood and it works as I expected. folds flat so you can stick it in a bag or pocket. I was going to make one but considering time and cost of materials it was cheaper to buy.

Comments about Canon 2.7" LCD Hood:
The hood is compact, lightweight and a lot more efficient than trying to hold the camera and get the shot while I'm using my other hand to block screen glare. It is stable, easy to slip on and off and comes with a carry bag.

Comments about Canon 2.7" LCD Hood:
This is by far the best hood for any Canon Camcorder that has a 2.7" LCD screen. The other LCD Hoods I looked at were cheap looking and more expensive. It is very easy to attach and remove. The LCD screen is easy to see even if the sun is behind you while you are recording.

Comments about Canon 2.7" LCD Hood:
This camera and I imagine all camcorders with swing out screens MUST have a hood (outdoors) to see the darn screen. The hood goes on easy enough but it makes it harder to use the touch screen. I'm glad I got it but I wish they had designed something better.

Comments about Canon 2.7" LCD Hood:
This hood works great on my Canon FS-10 camcorder. Makes it much easier to view the screen when shooting outdoors.
Only drawbacks, for me, are: The hood obscures some of the remote receiver on the camcorder. Need to point the remote more precisely to the outside of the hood. Also need to be careful to mount the hood so it does no touch the joy stick button. This is a very close fit.

Comments about Canon 2.7" LCD Hood:
This hood does it's job very well. It keeps the sun off the LCD screen when outdoors and you can still accesss the controls on the screen too. If you shoot outdoors on bright days, this is a must.
