Comments about Acer B243HL 24" Widescreen Monitor:
I was really hopeful for this monitor. Great reviews, good specs, good price. The one I received was defective, though. The lower half of the screen was markedly darker than the upper half.
I easily could have asked for a replacement, and I'm sure B&H would have obliged. But the monitor itself was... awkward. The stand for it would rotate a little too freely. The monitor slid up and down, allowing you to position it at an optimum vertical height, but didn't lock securely in place. The monitor also rotates in respect to the stand, allowing you to impose a dutch angle by physically making it unlevel. None of these adjustments locked well, meaning that if you touched it at all, it would move in some unpredictable, and usually undesired, direction.
I really didn't give it much of a chance. I had already decided that I didn't like it just in the process of unpacking and setting it up. When I turned it on and it was defective as well, the decision to return it was pretty easy.
It's a shame, really. On paper, it looked perfect for my needs.

Comments about Acer B243HL 24" Widescreen Monitor:
I am a home user that uses two screens for photo editing and embroidery editing software. My work background includes over three decades of work with computers (starting with Fortran and the modems that had a rubber boot for the telephone handset), but computers are a TOOL for me rather than a FASCINATION. If it doesn't work and troubleshoot easily, I REALLY have better things to do with my time. This monitor replaced a 21" Trinitron that simply failed after more than a decade of faithful service. My concerns that LCD monitors would prove too viewing-angle-sensitive for good color-balancing were unfounded. If I am seated on a chair near the monitor end of the work station, there is no trouble with poor color representation or the weird shifts that are typical of LED monitors. I have not yet used any color-balancing software or equipment, but have not yet found the need to do so. The resolution is excellent. Value for the price is astonishing. Only three negatives: 1. The directions for adjusting the height could have been better. It took two computer-savvy people about 15 minutes to figure out how to raise and lower the monitor without sensing that we would break it--surely something a bit more clear could have been put in the quick-start guide. 2. The USB hub connections are hard to see and stiff to use, so it isn't as easy to plug and unplug peripherals as one would hope. 3. The cable that came with the monitor isn't long enough if the monitor and CPU aren't adjacent to each other. Treat yourself to a long cable when you buy the monitor.

Comments about Acer B243HL 24" Widescreen Monitor:
I use this product primarily for photo editing, and am loving it so far. I have not yet calibrated, although the factory settings don't seem too off balance. I wanted the best monitor for my dollar, without spending a ton of money. Thus far, I'm completely satisified. The size is perfect, not too large or too small. This product can be easily adjusted with an easy to use height adjuster, and can be rotated for vertical or horizontal use. I also am extremely pleased with the construction, specifically the base which is very sturdy unlike some of the other brands I researched.
