The Blue Snowball incorporates Blue's revolutionary Ball microphone design with the added convenience of a USB output. The USB output allows an audio signal to be fed directly to software-based recording applications without unnecessary preamplifiers or hardware. The Snowball incorporates 2 separate capsules to give you a choice between cardioid and omnidirectional pickup patterns.
The cardioid polar pattern has a more focused pickup and generally "hears" whatever the mic is pointed at, while the omnidirectional pattern picks up sounds in all directions. The sensitivity and signal character of the Snowball result in outstanding clarity and detail while capturing vocals, guitars, drums, and more at CD-quality rates of 16-bit/44.1kHz. A -10dB pad switch provides added headroom and minimizes distortion when capturing audio at excessive levels. The mic comes complete with a desktop stand and a USB cable so you can begin recording right away.

I use this for everything one would use a mic for. Skype calls, gaming, podcasting, music recording, etc. It works phenomenally for all of these activities.
The Blue Yeti, which is the upgraded version of this product, is a little better and has a few more features. But the Snowball is absolutely the best microphone you can get in this price range. It's not just good for its price range, it's good in general. Solidly built, great stand, great sound quality.
The only possible complaint I can think of is that the USB cable is ugly. This doesn't matter, since it can easily be replaced with any miniUSB cable, but it would've been nice to get a black cable with the black model.

This Mic is everything you could expect for a self contained desktop mic. Without any special software this mic worked on both Windows Vista and OSX 10.6.2. I used it with Logic Express and Audacity and it worked great. The mic has 3 settings which come in handy cardioid, cardioid -10db pad, and omnidirectional. The sound quality is something you would expect from a professional handheld cardioid mic.

I bought the Snowball to record vocals for a music project I am a part of, as my music interface (a PODxt Live) is not made to handle vocals. After reading several reviews, and finding it here for a ridiculously low price, I decided to give it a shot.
All I can say is "Wow!" The sound is absolutely incredible; crystal clear to say the least. I also recorded an acoustic guitar directly into it, and was blown-away by the quality of the sound. Using it is so easy, I can't imagine ANYONE having problems...you plug it into your computer via the included USB cable. That's it. It's ready to go. Open your music-recording software, and start recording.
On the downsides, and they aren't that bad, but this thing is kind of heavy for its size. I'm also not a huge fan of the stand that it comes with...it seems to wobble around quite a bit and there doesn't seem to be a way to fasten it down. But since this thing is made to sit atop a desk, it's really not too much of an issue for me.
I did not give it five stars simply because I haven't had time to test out the other two recording patterns (one of which is for loud recording, and the other is mainly for speech), so I'm not sure how well those work. But if you're going to just be using it to record yourself singing, or playing an acoustic instrument, this thing is easily worth the price, and then some.

Let's be honest, you get what you pay for to an extent. This is a USB mic; however, it's pretty good value for a USB mic. For anyone who isn't a serious musician, this is a home run. Why spend [$] on an M-audio system when you can drop 70 on this and get good quality audio?

I took this out of the box and started recording with GarageBand on a MacbookPro immediately. I like the 3 simple settings in one switch on the back. This capably captures my voice and an acoustic guitar on one track - perfect for rehearsal recording, podcasting, Skype calls, or capturing live music in a small setting.

This thing is bigger in person than it appears online. It works flawlessly with my recording software (BIAS Peak for Mac OSX) and outputs crisp, clean sound for voice over recording. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is that I had to add an inexpensive pop filter to lessen the plosives, but overall am very happy with the product.
