Viewsonic PJD6211 DLP Projector
The XGA-resolution ViewSonic PJD6211 offers a generous array of features for such an affordable projector. With 2500 lumens and a 2000:1 contrast ratio it's got the projection power to fill a medium to large room with a bright, vivid image.
The projector's 0.55 inch DMD DLP (Digital Micromirror Device Digital Light Processor) panel by Texas Instruments can take the credit for the stunning images the PJD6211 can project. It features an innovation TI calls BrilliantColor. Unlike other technologies such as LCD that use just three primary colors to produce the image, DLP Technology with BrilliantColor uses up to six separate colors.
BrilliantColor not only improves color accuracy, it brightens secondary colors as well. This combination produces a new level of color performance that increases the brightness of the colors by up to 50 percent over DLP projectors without BrilliantColor for accurate, true-to-life images.
Those millions of microscopic mirrors operate so fast that they can project one image for each eye, making 3-D in your home and office a reality. You bring the 3-D glasses and programming. Your PJD6211 is ready to bring you everything from fantastic scientific visualizations to stunning 3-D movies.
Do you like to watch high definition TV and Blu-ray discs? You can watch them on the PJD6211 in both 720p and 1080i. You can also watch TV in the NTSC, NTSC 4.43, PAL, PAL-M, PAL-N, PAL-60 and SECAM standards. The 90 to 240 volt power supply means the PJD6211 can work just about anywhere.
Many projectors these days can do closed captioning from program sources that provide them. But only a handful can handle every single CC channel a source can contain: CC1, CC2, CC3, CC4, T1, T2, T3 and T4. The PJD6211 can.
With the PJD6211's Off-to-Go feature you can just unplug the projector and be on your way when your presentation is over. There's no need to hang around making small talk while the projector lamp cools down. You'd expect nothing less from a projector this cool.

- The panel is the part of the projector that forms the image. The latest BrilliantColor technology delivers stunning all-digital clarity with life-like color, sharp graphics and outstanding video. The sophisticated six-segment (red, green, blue, cyan, magenta and yellow) color wheel enhances the yellow color performance that's key to accurate and vivid color reproduction. DLP panels offer a bonus: They require no filters that have to be periodically cleaned and replaced.
- 3-D Ready For Immersive Educational, Scientific, Gaming and Entertainment Viewing
- If you've seen a recent 3-D film in a movie theater, chances are the 3-D effect was generated by a DLP Cinema projector. That same technology has been applied to the PJD6211. DLP technology uses millions of Digital Micromirror Devices (DMDs) that reflect light to create a stunning picture. This imaging technology is so fast, it can actually produce two images on the screen at the same time: One for the left eye and one for the right eye. Then 3-D glasses combine the two images to create an amazing 3-D effect. This projector is ready for the revolution. All you need to add is 3-D glasses and 3-D programming that can include lessons developed for 3-D, 3-D games and 3-D movies.
- Accepts a Wide Range of Inputs
- Besides high definition formats that include 720p and 1080i at 24 fps, 25fps and 30fps (frames per second) the PJD6211 can accept NTSC, NTSC 4.43, PAL, PAL-M, PAL-N, PAL-60 and SECAM TV signals. On the computer front it can properly scale both PC (VGA to SXGA) and Macintosh (up to 1152 x 864) signals.
- Off-to-Go Feature
- This feature allows you to simply unplug the projector and go without waiting for the usual cool down phase. This feature also protects lamp life from sudden power blackout.
- Closed Captioning
- Closed captioning was developed to make video more enjoyable and useful for the hard of hearing but it also comes in handy for people whose native language isn't English. CC is more complicated than you might think. Of course the programming source has to provide it but did you know there are many different channels of closed captioning? The PJD6211 can handle all of them: CC1 (closed caption1, the most common channel), CC2, CC3, CC4, T1, T2, T3 and T4.
- Extend Lamp Life and Lower Fan Noise With Eco Mode
- Eco mode extends the life of your lamp up to 5000 hours and reduces noise output from an already quiet 32 dB to a literally whisper quiet 30 dB.
- Security is Built-In
- The PJD6211 can be password-protected against unauthorized use. For physical security there's both a security bar through which an optional steel cable can be threaded and a Kensington slot for an optional Kensington compatible lock.

The projectors needed software updates to set the settings.
I had to waste alot of time and energy before we made calls to viewsonic and were notified that we neede software updates.
I then had to spend money to get a converter to fit the usb input on the projector.
I hope the updates will fix me setting issues.

I use this projector in a room that can seat about 100 people.
The projector is mounted on a ceiling. And the ceiling is not to much higher than a regular room (except the ceiling is trusses style), however the distance between the projector and floor is not more than 10 feet.
I own this product for almost 5 months.
REMOTE CONTROL:
the remote control is a credit card size-like device and it uses flat batteries (like a giant watch battery). Like I said: this projector has been mounted on a ceiling and in order to use the remote control I have to be underneath the projector with my arm stretched up. I have already changed the battery, in fact within the first month because it was so hard to use.
OPTICS
I am not sure if it's the optics or what but when I use the keystone function, the bottom corner(s) are softening.
Right now I'm looking at a Hitachi projector with 1,500 more lumens, and I think I'll keep this one as a rear wall projector and as a portable projector solution.
