The Hoya 49mm Ultraviolet UV (C) Haze Filter is a wise initial investment. It helps protect your valuable investment from dust, moisture and scratches, which can lead to costly repairs. The "C" on the filter ring designates Hoya's thinner design for this filter. This filter has its UV properties in the multi-coating.The result is an average light transmission of over 97% giving sharp contrast and well balanced color. Hoya HMC filters are recommended for enhancing the performance of today's multicoated digital lenses.
Multicoated to minimize reflection at the filter surfaces which reduces flare and ghosting.

Comments about Hoya 49mm Ultraviolet UV (C) Haze Multicoated Filter:
The anti-glare coating works great, better than the lower grade UV filter I use on my 16mm pancake lens.
The anti-glare coating made the tight a little too tight and it was hard to find the start to the threads the first time I put it on the lens. After taking it on and off twice, it's been perfect. There was some slight film on the outside of the filter body, not the glass, but it came right off with a slightly damp cloth.

Comments about Hoya 49mm Ultraviolet UV (C) Haze Multicoated Filter:
I never leave home without one. A UV filter doesn't really do that much in front of the lens, but for the cheap price it's good insurance. I was working in a plant once and had machine oil squirt out at me and my camera. It stripped the lens coating right off of the UV filter and I'm convinced that if it had gotten on my actual front lens element, the lens would have been damaged beyond repair.
