The Hoya 52mm Ultraviolet UV (C) Haze Filter is a wise initial investment. It helps protect your valuable investment from dust, moisture and scratches, which can lead to costly repairs. The "C" on the filter ring designates Hoya's thinner design for this filter. This filter has its UV properties in the multi-coating.The result is an average light transmission of over 97% giving sharp contrast and well balanced color. Hoya HMC filters are recommended for enhancing the performance of today's multicoated digital lenses.
Multicoated to minimize reflection at the filter surfaces which reduces flare and ghosting.

When I purchased my first several Canon EOS lenses, I thought I'd stay loyal and purchase Canon filters also. Well, I had several older Hoya HMC filters kicking around, and comparing these filters to the Canon filters, I could not believe the difference in how much less surface reflections could be seen (or actually, not seen) in the Hoya filters. So I purchased new Hoya HMC filters to replace the Canon filters. The Hoya metal mounts are equal to or better in quality, and the glass and anti-reflection coatings are superb.

Bought this to use with a Canon 50mm 1.8 "Nifty Fifty" lens. Not much to say about it, no issues other than the fact that it's an inexpensive filter that made sense on an inexpensive lens. Pictures were a little clearer without it, but it keeps the dust out and offers a little protection. Easy to install.

I discovered on arrival that the filter had a crack that emanated from the edge and appeared to be something that likely happened at the manufacturer when they mounted it in the ring. Anyway, a call to B&H and they sent a replacement at no cost right away. No hassle at all! Great company to deal with.

I use Hoya filters on all of my lenses. I haven't had problems with any of them. I did accidentally put a little scratch in one of my Hoya filters which removed a small amount of the coating, but that is why I have the filter on so I don't accidentally scratch my beautiful lens. The scratch on the filter does not appear to have any negative results on my photos.

I purchased a couple of these to put on both of the lenses I use on a regular basis. They work well and are great for protecting and keeping dust and dirt off of your lens. They are well made and I think they are pretty reasonably priced for a multi-coated filter.
