New in Bento 3
iPhoto Integration
iPhoto integration allows you to store more information about photos than iPhoto allows and link them to contacts, projects, events, and other information stored in Bento, without having to go through a lengthy file import process. Photos can be viewed in any of Bento's available view settings
Grid View
In addition to the venerable Table view, Form view, and Split view, you can now view images and forms in Grid view in order to see a visual display of your information. The view can be customized to display additional information under each image thumbnail
You'll even be able to create and view your own customized thumbnail forms, allowing you to, for example, create a form where you have an image of a product next to the part number and price, displaying multiple product "cards" together on one screen
Simple List Field Type
Simple list field type allows you to add a freeform table to your forms, perfect for creating a quick to-do list or shopping list and for tracking gifts received at parties and weddings
Library Folders
Library folders allow you to save space in your Libraries pane by grouping like libraries in a single folder. Libraries in the folder can also be exported as a group
Image Box
Image box allows you to add a picture to any form
Security
The password-protected Encrypted field type allows you to protect sensitive data using encrypted fields and password protection, perfect for protecting web site logins and banking information. You'll be able to assign a master password on a database level; you can also assign a sharing password, which gives other users library-level access to a database that you've shared over a LAN
Multi-User Sharing
Share your Bento database or selected libraries with up to 5 other Bento users on your local network, complete with password protection. You'll be able to control access so that only authorized users make changes. As Bento is compatible with Apple's Bonjour protocol it will automatically find shared libraries on your network
Group E-Mailing
Group e-mailing allows you to send one e-mail to multiple recipients using the Apple Mail program with only a few clicks
Print Blank Form
Print a blank version of any form, perfect for surveys and sign-up lists
Copy Forms
Copy forms within a library and between collections, allowing you to keep data consistent across your various libraries
Additional Templates
Adds 10 ready-to-use templates to the software, bringing the total to 35. The new templates include: vacation planner, health records, job search, house search, wine collection, home maintenance, party planner, TV & movie catalog, user names and passwords, and meeting notes
Improved Features in Bento 3
Related Data Field
The Related data field now allows you to see thumbnail images of media. You can use this feature to link a list of guests to an event, with a picture of each guest displayed on the event record
File List
You'll be able to see a thumbnail image of each document in the File List, rather than just seeing a list of text containing file names as in the previous version of the software
Table View with Media Cell
You'll be able to see mini versions of pictures, movies, or PDFs that are stored in a media field when you're in Table view thanks to Quick Look support
