HP's Photosmart A646 Compact Photo Printer weighs only 2.37 lb (1.07 kg) and is compact (approx. 10" wide) so you bring it with you and print just about anywhere. This printer delivers a 4 x 6" print in as fast as 28 seconds (with a border) and can accommodate print sizes up to 5 x 7". It uses a single HP 110 tri-color inkjet print cartridge which delivers dry and smear resistant photos immediately after printing when used with HP Advanced Photo Paper. One cartridge will yield approximately 50 4 x 6" prints.
Printer functions are controlled from a 3.45" touchscreen with HP's TouchSmart control panel. All you have to do is plug in your PictBridge compatible camera, memory card or USB storage device and you can view, edit, write captions, create slide shows, and make photo corrections all from the touchscreen. You can even print a picture from a Bluetooth-enabled mobile phone provided it has a Send, Print or equivalent feature. The Photosmart A646 will let your creativity soar...it comes with more than 300 templates so you can add borders, clip art, create calendars, and other personalized touches to dazzle your family and friends.

I purchased this printer to save me time and money on printing out pictures by having to go to a store. It walked me through the complete set up and printed my pictures quickly. The ability to scroll through the pictures on my camera card and print what I wanted as well as make adjustments to them before printing is very easy. I would recommend this printer to anyone who just wants to print pictures out without needing a computer.

If you want to see picture after took digital camera then this printer can print picture in 1 1/2 min. You need to order the extra cartrdge. I wanted something my father could use. Dad doesn't have a computer and isn't interested in using something complicated. I was so very pleased I could download just the section of the manual that pertained to using the printer without a pc and it gave all the directions we needed. My dad was so pleased with the bright 4 by 6 prints. The only thing I saw that had me rate this a 4 instead of 5 was that the color tone was a little more blue than nornmal, but still the prints are bright and Dad thinks wonderful. Also, the printer is nice and small for Dad to keep in his family room and the editing options not too complicated to use. The printer was slow enough for the prints to be almost dry and fast enough to not feel "where are they?"

We use this primarily to print our favorite digital images. It does a great job at printing 5x7 or 4x6 images. It's small and compact and fits nicely into tight spaces. It comes with a carrying case that makes it even that much more portable. We print about 10 images a month.
Ink is always an issue with any printer as far as cost, but we are satisfied with the quality of the images.

I use this product to print pictures for friends when I need an extra copy in a pinch! The pictures come out looking like they came out of a photo shop!
It is handy to carry around (I love the padded case made from recycled plastic!) It is a great way to make a postcard for an occasion or for a framed photo for a relative or friend. I love all the extra framing features as well as the tools for reducing red-eye and cropping, etc.
My only complaint is that it uses ink fast (and comes with a starter cartridge that only makes about 5 pictures!) However, it is an inkjet printer so that should be expected (one full cartridge produces about 55 4 x6 inch prints.) I also wish it came with the USB cord which I had to order online. Otherwise, it is a great buy if you aren't using it to print lots of pictures every day. Use new HP ink...refilled and refurbished cartridges will affect the HP warranty and the quality of your photos. For best quality and fast ink drying time, be sure to use good quality HP photo paper.
I am considering buying one for my daughter this Christmas for her scrap booking needs. I am very happy with the quality of my photographs and the fact that I can use an XD or an SD card or plug in my camera to it. An easy printer to operate and use! It has a one year warranty as well and if taken care of, should last a long time. Enjoy!

This is a great product. I have been looking for a printer to print pictures of the grandchildren. I saw this, ordered it and am extremely pleased with product. A new grandson gives extra incentive to print photos for relatives. The print quality is better than the two photo printers I have. Speed is not great but I'll swap it for good quality.

HP done a great job with this printer. The setup file is stored within the printer, so you don't have to worry about taking the CD with you or loosing it.
It works on both Windows and Mac. Great large LCD screen. The carrying bag is perfect.
You need to buy a USB cable to connect it to your computer since it is not included.
