NEC NP215 DLP XGA 2500 Lumens Projector
The NEC NP215 is a low priced high powered projector that's as useful in the living room as it is in the conference room. It can project high definition signals in the 720p and 1080i formats and most international TV standards. Its 100 to 200 V AC 50/60 Hz power supply is also ready for the world.
The NP215 is so ecologically conscious it can even calculate and display its own carbon footprint in kg by operating in ECO mode. ECO mode lowers light output somewhat, slows the fan and saves you money.
This projector is people friendly too. Its input panel is clearly labeled and color coded. And it enables you to include the hard of hearing members of your audience by displaying Closed Captioning from program sources that provide it. CC also comes in handy to help people whose native language isn't English.
The NP215 sports a 0.55" DLP chip with BrilliantColor. This chip increases color accuracy while it increases color brightness by up to 50 percent. And it processes six different primary colors rather than the usual three. What's more, projectors powered by DLP light engines require no filters that have to be cleaned and replaced periodically.

- Bright, high contrast images from the latest Texas Instruments DLP engine featuring BrilliantColor technology with improved color accuracy can fill a medium to large room, even if there's a fairly high level of ambient light. And DLP panels don't require filters that have to be periodically cleaned and replaced.
- Environmentally and Budget Friendly
- ECO Mode technology increases lamp life up to 5000 hours, while lowering power consumption and energy costs. The Auto Power On feature activates the projector when a computer signal is detected via the RGB (15-pin) input connector. On the other hand, power management enables the projector to automatically turn off when an incoming signal is not detected from any of the inputs. There's even a carbon savings meter that calculates the positive effects of operating the projector in ECO Mode, which is encouraged by an optional message at startup.

- Quick start (3 to 4 seconds) lets you begin presenting in seconds while quick shutdown (immediate power off with no cooling required after shutdown) ensures efficient energy usage and no wasted time waiting around for the bulb to cool down.
- Ready For The World
- The 100 – 240V AC, 50/60 Hz power supply will work almost anywhere in the world (optional power cord may be required.) The NP 215 can also handle video signals in the NTSC, NTSC 4.43, PAL-M, N, B, D, G, H, I, 60 and SECAM formats, covering much of the world. In addition it's compatible with dozens of Mac and PC video formats. And of course it can project in 720p and 1080i high definition.
- Closed Captioning
- Built-in closed captioning enables decoding and display of text information from a video source that contains it. Let your whole audience participate, including those who are hard of hearing and those learning English as a foreign language
- Security Measures Protect Your Investment
- The NP215 includes a password protection feature that ensures only authorized people use the projector. There's also a Kensington slot through which you can run a cable fastened to a larger object to physically secure it.
- Built in Wall Color Correction
- When your venue doesn't have a screen handy you may end up having to project your presentation on to the wall. That's not too bad if it's a white wall but what if the wall is say, light green? Not a problem. The NP215 can compensate for nine different board and wall colors.
- Network Ready
- The NP215 has an integrated RJ45 connection for quick connection to a LAN. The projector's remote diagnostics enable you to monitor and make adjustments to the projector from any computer on your LAN.

This projector was bought to be used at club meetings. It is very simple to set up, and has some options to play around with if someone wants to. The picture quality is very good, even if the lights are still on (but slightly dimmed). No problems connecting to different types of laptops. The speaker is only 7watts, so do not expect much from it. It can get pretty loud without distortion, but for anything larger than a small classroom it probably will not be adequate. Included with the projector are a VGA cable and the power cord. You must buy your own audio cable. Also, the power cord is very short, an extension cable (3-pronged) will also be a necessary purchase.

We have a few of these and are very happy with them. The price was/is very good too. B&H had the lowest price we found on three separate occasions that we bought them.
I am not a projector wiz or anything. Only thing I do suggest is that you just make sure it has the one you need before buying.
Bottom line is that for the price I cannot imagine being disappointed with this projector which is why I have bought three over the past year.

This projector is great for the price.
I had all the family over for an outdoor movie night. easy to hook up to the dvd player. The internal speaker is not bad either. I did hook up speakers for better quality sound. The picture was very clear and bright. Very easy to use.

We have used this unit for outdoor movie night for the past two weekends. So far it has passed all out expectations. We have only had one issue with the types of connectors on the unit but none of this truly matters to us, there is always a way. I would recommend this item to anyone looking for clear crisp video.

We've only been using the projector for a couple weeks, but it is perfect for our youth programs. It's easy to use, and very simple to set up.

I use this for TV in HD in my great room from 17ft. away.
The picture is almost 8ft. wide from 17ft. ,the brightness is great even with the blinds part way open in the daytime.

One of the best for projectors below true HD. Picture in dark room very good, and makes little noise. Only quibble is speaker, should make more robust or not have one, since in a presentation setting you would probably have the speaker close to max all the time.

For the money, this product is awesome. There are higher priced products that have batter resolution, but you have to have a higher resolution source (Blue-Ray, HDTV) to make use of that higher resolution.

Bought this for our home theater that isn't finished yet. So we tacked a white sheet to the living room wall because I couldn't wait to see how it worked. WOW! With the lights on, you can see the bright colors. With the lights off, you can really see the bright whites and sharp colors. The fan is quiet, a little warm air, but not to bad. It hooked up to our Dish satellite easily! Our DVDs look great! Can't wait to get the home theater finished to play Wii games. Great little projector!

I bought this projector to be used as a portable unit in my church's education wing. [...] Initial setup was a breeze. It almost took longer to put the batteries in the remote than to do the remainder of the configuration. Picture quality and brightness are great even for the largest of the classrooms. The wall color settings work well and allow me to use the classroom dry erase board as a projection screen with no problem if I choose. What I didn't expect was the fidelity and power of the built-in speaker. I had planned to run audio through a small sound system when necessary but found the speaker on the projector to be quite sufficient for most intended applications. Our instructors were so impressed with this unit that it's likely I will need to order more and do permanent installations in most of the classrooms. I heartily recommend this unit and would, and likely will, order it again.
