• HDMI Output with 1080p HD Upconversion: The RH299H can upscale video signals to a maximum of 1080p HDMI output, allowing you to enjoy standard definition video sources in HD resolution. This technology enables the recorder to carry high-definition audio and video information through a single cable, achieving the highest quality picture and clearest sound available.

• Progressive Scan: As a progressive scan DVD recorder, the RH299H is capable of scanning an entire video frame at once, drastically reducing scan lines commonly associated with interlaced video. The result is a spectacularly clear and detailed image with no motion artifacts (stair-stepping).

• 400 GB Hard Disk Drive: Using the hard disk drive and recording in the Maximum Long Play (lowest video quality) mode, you can record for up to 1171 hours.

• Super Multi DVD Recording: Using a recordable DVD and recording in the Maximum Long Play (lowest video quality) mode, you can record for up to 11 hours.

• Advanced Timeshift: You don't have to miss a scene if you are interrupted while watching a live broadcast. If the telephone rings, just press "Timeshift" and "Pause" before answering the phone. The timeshift function will be activated and the broadcast is then recorded for later viewing. After the phone call, press "Play" or "Scan" to watch the program, or press "Stop" to return to the live broadcast.

• Simultaneous Record and Play: Want to record from one source while watching another? You don't have to choose, because playback and recording for both the DVD and built in hard disk drive (HDD) are completely independent. For example, you can record to either the DVD or HDD source and play back video from the other source at the same time.

• Graphical Menu Navigation: The RH299H uses a graphical menu to guide you during operation of the recorder. With the menu, you have easy access to all functions as well as visual feedback for your choices.

• Two-Way Dubbing from HDD to DVD: You can easily dub recordings from HDD to DVD or from DVD to HDD. The Dubbing menu lets you choose the record mode and speed of the recording process.

• Fast Copying up to 12x: Copying between DVD and HDD is a completely digital process and therefore involves no loss of quality in the audio or video. This means that you can transfer back and forth without having to worry about the quality getting worse with each copy 'generation.' It also means that copying can be carried out at the maximum speed possible. When copying from HDD to DVD, the speed of copying depends on the recording mode and the kind of DVD disc you're using.

• DV (IEEE 1394) In Connection: To edit or make copies of movies from your digital video camcorder, you can connect it to the recorder using a single DV (IEEE 1394) cable for input and output of audio, video, data, and control signals.

• Simplink (HDMI-CEC) Function: Some functions of the RH299H can be controlled by a compatible TV's remote control when the recorder and an LG TV with Simplink are connected through the HDMI connection. Functions controllable by the TV's remote control include Play, Pause, Scan, Skip, Stop, and Power Off, depending on the model.
