So first, this bag can carry a LOT of gear, they are quite conservative in the description (my gear list below), it's deep allowing stacking of (2) large lenses or (2) DSLR bodies PER section and there are three flexible sections in the main compartment (or can be converted to more/less). It's made VERY well, and it is a SLING bag so when loaded up it (like ANY bag its size) will be heavy, so to the other reviews that said it was too heavy for their shoulder, I'd advise using a sling bag as it's intended and put it ACROSS your body, not over your shoulder. SLINGs are not shoulder bags, they're meant to be carried across your body and then quickly rotated to the front for easy access from the large access main door. (the photos in the smaller model (180AW) of this bag show proper sling bag position i.e. over the head and shoulder, not just shoulder)
I've carried mine all over Europe street shooting, day-long treks etc. where I wanted to carry all or most of my gear with me. The low profile style doesn't scream "I have $10K in cameras and lenses here, come rob me!" when you're walking less desirable neighborhoods late night or 5AM on the Danube waiting for that empty square or perfect sunrise. Granted if you use the tripod attachment and carry one, it's kind of a moot point. I have a tiny Benro travel tripod that fits perfectly and I travel with it often but I also have attached my much larger Manfrotto 055XPROB with a large head without a problem though only for day shooting in NYC or Central Park, not sure how well it would travel given how large the 055X series.
So what will it hold? I pretty much left it as it came, moved some of the dividers a 1/2 inch here or there maybe but mine contains:
- (2) DSLRs - b/u Canon body only at bottom center and Canon 7D with either my 24-70mm lens ATTACHED above it
- (5+) additional lenses (in their fitted cases!) 2 on the left, 2 on the right stacked. A mid range prime, a 10-20 wide angle but 2 are longer and fit easily (Sigma 70-200 and Sigma 70 f/2.8 all 4 in cases)
- an additional small lens (Canon 50mm prime) in center section with my camera
- additional room in main compartment on top of the lenses, L/R of DSLR for a flash, meter, etc.
- bottom section holds a Slik MiniPro, my Canon battery charger, and (2) filter wallets holding 10-12 filters and a large hi-speed card reader
- top section holds a large Giottos ball head, numerous cables, cell phone, and a pocket cam (mine is one of the tiny Canon Elphs)
- the zippered compartment holds several batteries, a few quick release plates, lens covers/caps, lens wipes, etc and stil allows closure without hitting the DSLR
- plenty of room and nice padding for the laptop section plus another smaller outer zip pocket for personal items which acts as another buffer for your laptop should you drop the bag etc. I only carry a netbook and it also allows room for my external hard drive when traveling but can easily fit the larger laptop size mentioned in the specs.
Great bag, the main one of three I use; I also have a much smaller Lowepro sling for my camera and two other lenses only and a large backpack I use when hiking which allows attachment of non-photo equipment, etc.

This is the first camera bag I have ever owned. I have only had this bag for a week, but have taken it out on photography trips 4 times so far. While I do like the bag for it's overabundant roominess, the comfort is definitely lacking for me. Pro'sMy favorite thing about this bag is the padding. I have no fear that my gear is going to be damaged by the outside world. And the bag keeps it's shape nicely, staying rigid at all times. This bag fits every piece of camera gear I own in one divider with my 200mm lens in a second compartment. My gear includes a Canon T2i with the kit 18-55mm lens, a 70-210mm, 200mm, 55mm, 28mm wide angle, 2x tele, and a couple screw on lenses, a wide angle and another 2x tele. I still have a whole other compartment that just stays empty. All the cables, filter, and my remote easily fit in the top compartment. One of the top cons I see on this bag is that it is too heavy. It would be easy to fill this thing up so full that it would take a weight lifter to lift it. My biggest con is comfort. This is supposed to be a sling bag, but doesn't work that well for me as a sling. I have 2 options;A) Tighten the chest strap so tight I can't sling it, but fits comfortable, especially using the belt.B) Loosen the strap enough I can sling, but have the strap rubbing my neck the whole time. I also notice that with a tripod in the carrier, it really likes to tilt to the side. Not an issue, unless you try walking through a doorway, or a hallway. I have already gathered a few paint rubbings on my brand new tripod. I would also like to mention the lack of velcro dividers. When you have it in the slung position, you have a total of 5 compartments, not including the top accessed compartment(which can be removed). Yet you only get 2 vertical dividers to keep your gear from rolling around. My setup has 3 compartments in the bottom half. One divider is right up against the top compartment divider, the other is against the bottom middle compartment to help provide some support. The 1st compartment holding my 200mm lens with the 1st divider holding it from sliding back and forth. The second compartments holds all my lenses underneath the 2nd divider, with my camera body on top. The last compartment is completely empty, because I have no way of keeping stuff from sliding around. Extra vertical dividers would have allowed me to spread out my lenses more so they don't rub together all the time. I added the too large comment as a con, because you really don't expect this bag to be so large. The description states "Fits 1-2 D-SLR Cameras with 2 Lens Kit". I can honestly see fitting a Canon T2i, with the kit 18-55 lenses on the body, and room for up to 4 smaller 50mm sized lenses underneath or 2 telephoto lenses, in each compartment. So theoretically , 3 sets of camera's. Assuming you had at least a third divider of course. Over all, as a transportation bag, this thing would be great. You could fit most of a studio in here and still board a plane. For actual use, I find it difficult to get to my gear. Not only for the strap issue listed above, but also because all of my lenses are located below my my camera.

Comments about Lowepro Classified Sling 220 AW Bag:
Lowepro is a high quality, good priced brand in general. 220 AW bag however wasn't what i expected practically wise. It is very well built and sturdy. Has some good features like the pockets, tripod holder and the rain sleeve. and for the price, it was attractive for me. But when i received it, it was bigger and bulkier than i thought it would be. I'm 6' 2" 175lbs and i feel like im wearing a ninja turtle shell. It is definitely too big to be an everyday, walk around bag i mistakenly thought it would be. I need another bag for that. It does however make an excellent travel/transport bag. Stuffed it holds fairly securely my EOS 60D with battery grip attached, Ex480 flash, 18-135mm 3.6, 50mm 1.4, 70-200mm 2.8 with case, 2 battery chargers foldable flash bounce and some accessories. It has nice pockets with place to store pens, mobiles and business cards. Do i use it often? not as much as i wish i did. I rather go with my 18-135in my back pocket, 50 on camera and 70-200 in the case it comes with and sling it over my shoulders. So if you use your camera every day or two, you're not going to want this bag. But if you travel long distances transport you gear to your shoot then this is an excellent choice. Its large enough to be taken as carry-on,

Comments about Lowepro Classified Sling 220 AW Bag:
Plenty of room for a good amount of equipment. Great for rugged outdoors, completely out of the way. A little awkward for someone smaller, like myself, not due to the size. When you swing it forward to access your equipment, it is higher than I would like. I am very happy with it regardless! Only addition I could think of would be wheels and handle like luggage for change off of shoulder.

Comments about Lowepro Classified Sling 220 AW Bag:
I returned the Lowepro Classified Sling 220 AW because it was just too big and boxy. When loaded it was too heavy to put on by lifting up and ducking under the sling. And much too heavy to undo the strap to get it on and then refasten.
However, it did hold all my equipment without being overstuffed. D7000 with 70-300 attached, 35-70 lens, 18-270 lens, 50mm lens, battery charger, cord, Teleconverter, with room for a little bit more "stuff." Must add that I'm a 60 yr. old female with arthritic hands, so this bag might be perfect for someone else, it was just too much for me.
One thing that I did love about it was this. When I put it in the front seat of my car, access to the camera was extremely nice. You can unzip and rezip the top opening with one hand, reach in and easily get your camera out.

Good construction, solid feel, and quite roomy. The bag has been called "large" by a number of reviews, but it's open to interpretation. If you are looking for a "walk-around" bag then sure, this may be a bit on the large end. If you need a bag to pack your gear to travel and feel confident about it, then this will meet your needs.

Love this bag. There are some good and bad things. What I realy love is, that every thing is compact and tight. You have everything what you need. not a problem to fit 70-200 with camera in one slot. what I hate is, that there is not realy space for your accecorie. batteries, cords, remote all those small stuff.....its all in one slot. if you look for batteries, first you find cords in all the other stuff and finaly you get to the batteries....
I would by it again and again.

I can access my gear, change lenses and filters without taking the 220 AW bag off. Just pull it arround and open it in front of you. The side access opening becomes the top when used this way.

Comments about Lowepro Classified Sling 220 AW Bag:
I purchased this bag because of the price discount and never would have considered it at regular price. This is not a bag I will use often - but I will use it as a transport bag. The bag is too deep for my needs as a walk around bag, my 60D with grip and 15-85mm lens fell into it like a black hole. This bag is like a big box on your back. so even with my camera and a couple of other lenses it's still too big. However, since these bags always have to be compromised with, this sling bag may be perfect for others, especially for those making a living off photography.
I made this bag work for me by removing all the inserts, thus creating a large deep rectangular hold. This way I can carry several lenses in their repective lowepro padded lens cases. My camera fits in better and stays secure with this arrangement. I actually find this bag comfortable to wear, although I wouldn't want to have it on for hours at a time. I use a backpack for that. As someone else mentioned, this would make a great carry-on bag for air travel.
It's another quality Lowepro product and a good deal for the special price. Although it's not my bag of choice, (that would be the Lowepro Pro Messenger 180 AW) I like the way equipment can be accessed without taking off the bag.

Comments about Lowepro Classified Sling 220 AW Bag:
I have always used a shoulder bag to immediately access equipment when needed. Unfortunately, due to the number of years doing this, I needed to take the pressure off my shoulder when using a heavy bag that hangs off the same shoulder side. The sling bag, even though the strap is on the same shoulder, distributes the weight much better, especially when using the hip belt. I'm able to easily haul two camera bodies with lenses attached, including a 70-200L lens, one additional lens, two strobes and accessories. The two cameras are easy to pull out without setting the bag down. The only downside is not enough stiff padding to protect a laptop if needed. This is not a deal breaker for me. The pocket for the laptop is now used for small light weight reflectors. The construction of the bag is great and should give me years of use.

Comments about Lowepro Classified Sling 220 AW Bag:
This bag carries a good bit of gear, with some room for extras (including my Kindle in the side door cubby. And my 15.4" laptop fits with no problem. I have a backpack, a sling, and holster type belt, and this one complements them all nicely. Fits my 300mm f/4L IS with no problem, although it won't fit attached, but think I've got it configured wrong and suspect I can remedy that. The double stacking of a couple of standard lens (fits my 24-105L with my 17-50 easily) is not a problem at all for me. My one gripe is that I wish they would have made it possible to stow camera + longer zoom (or 300mm f/4L) attached, in a horizontal position, like with the Inverse belt pack. Quality and protection are high, though.

Comments about Lowepro Classified Sling 220 AW Bag:
+Gives better access than a backpack
+More comfortable to carry than a standard shoulder bag
+space to keep a body +17-55 + hood isntalled forward, and a couple other lenses + a flash, without crowding.
-Not comfortable enough even lightly loaded (1 body, 3 medium lenses) to carry for more than a couple of hours.
-Not as space efficient as a standard bag type (access through the 'thin' side of the space only)
-Shoulder harness postition for best comfort makes tha bag swing around ina position that is too high to be comfortable for gear swapping.
This might be better as a carry on bag to get too a destination rahter than a daily use bag.
I think I will try a standard hiking backpack with a holster style bag buckled to the fronts of a the shoulder straps next to give access and protection to a main camera, along with better weight support. This still leaves more difficulty accesing secondary equipment.

Comments about Lowepro Classified Sling 220 AW Bag:
I use the bag just about every time I leave my house. It contains all of the photo equipment I have with room to spare. I had a smaller sling bag for several years but this one is much more solid. The zippers are easier to zip, there are more compartments, and you can put a 13" laptop in it too. It's really easy to get to the camera when you need it fast. It has a square shape so it stands up on it's own when you put it down.
My one complaint- there's no dedicated velcro pocket for extra batteries.
