The 16x9 Inc. 169-HDWC75XZ5 is a 0.75x add-on conversion lens designed specifically for the Sony HVR-Z5U. The lens has a full zoom through and provides additional wide-angle capability. Featuring four multi-coated glass elements, the 169-HDWC75XZ5 can be used in virtually any shooting environment while preserving the highest quality images with exceptional sharpness.

I think it could be useful in certain situations but for us the weight combined with the fact that it really doesn't get you much wider makes it not worth the cost.
